Remeber this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,4239.0.html) thread? With the 64Kb demo with all the cool graphics and sound? Well, they did it again.

Allow me to quote myself from that previous thread:

Blah. Not impressive.
(just joking, actually awesome  )

It's friggin 7:50 am and they already got both of my eyes to open all the way

Now this is just incredible. The graphical demonstration itself is very impressive (nice and abstract, just the way I like it :D), but the file size is beyond belief; they must be using one heck of a compression method...

very nice@

Erm, this is almost a year old.
I found "The Product" more engaging, because it renders more (vaguely) real-world scenes. This one is just a bunch of abstract crap floating in space. The music isn't as good either.

Need anyone point ot that it's only 64K in size? It's worth noting that microsoft would be hard pressed to write a frikkin basic help file that size.
On another note...
My graphics card is too slow to view this :(

the 64k comps have been around for a while now, but they didn't really start to pick up until 97-onwards. But most of the coding in these files is simple instructions, all of the full 'graphics' and 'sounds' are generated mostly by programs that are already on your computer (Direct X anyone?). But on occation you do get some of the 64k programs with in file graphics and sound, but not that often.

Need I point out that The Product is only 64K too? I thought The Product was better. In this latest (and by "latest" I mean "year-old") one, they completely gave up on rendering real-world objects and just went with spikey randomness. And way too much text.

Saw that a full month ago. I gotta say, I'd be a LOT more impressed if they did something other than spiky turds over and over and over again- even if they wanted to stick to abstraction, they coulda stuck in some friggin' variety. I'm sure there are programs out there that'll randomly generate **** like that, no effort at all beyond sticking in some keys, so I fail to see what the point really is- it's well done, but I can tell how they did it all and it doesn't matter how good it is if it doesn't HAVE anything new or have anything I can't do in a few months on my crappy rig.

Quick, note the time and date! ZB and Stryke are Agreeing™

 Even more stunning!

Well, the law of averages would suggest that after nearly 1,000 tries, he's bound to get something right. After all, if he was unfailingly completely wrong 100% of the time, that'd be a sort of accuracy, too.

Me too :( I get lots of slow-downs. But I still found it pretty cool, though I went and downloaded The Product and have to say that I enjoyed it more.

Oh dear... they realyl know what they're doing :eek2: :eek2:
