Has anyone played the game (demo, as yet), Global Power? It is an insanely detailed present-day global strategy game, where you control a country's military, economic and social features in order to achieve domination.
It also makes a great hypothetical simulator. For instance, I was Briatin, I nuked France, and was immediately attacked by all of NATO! I was wiped out, surprisingly enough.
-
Couldn't you nuke a few more other country's? thus you have more chance to survive a NATO attack:)
-
How big is the demo to download?
-
Hmm, link?
-
I dont know where to download it, as it was on the PCGamer discs. I can't find a link at the moment, as I am at school, and all game related things are blocked.
It won't be too big to download, either, as it is not very graphical.
However, the demo is limited to four countries, UK, Brazil, Niger and Mexico. You can nuke any city or military base in the world. I tried nuking NewYork, but then the US sent nukes to me, Frnace nuked the US, russia nuked France, and soon the whole world was in nuclear war.
Ahh, it turns out that the demo is 126meg, and can be found here (http://www.gmxmedia.net/gp/downloads/index.shtml)

Cool, it has Brazil in it. Lemme check it out. :D
-
It has all the country's:D
-
I meant the Demo.
-
ooh:nervous:
-
the game has been released once under the name 'Superpower' (iirc). It was so realistic that they forgot to include supply-lines, transport of troops and general logistics. You could basically invade a country on the other side of the world without too much brouhaha.
a bit silly no?
I wonder if they have adressed these important but blatantly ignored aspects of warfare.

Hmm...wait till I nuke some countries. :drevil: Guess which country I will be ;7
By the way, you should have known better than to nuke a member of the GTVA uhh....ehh I mean UN Security Council.

Shush.:D
This game simply proves that high powered graphics are not necessary, take Uplink for example.
-
yeah, but for a game claiming to be a realistic war-simulation on the grand strategy level this is a rather huge omission
-
I nuked the whole of brasil, France, Holland, USA, Spain, Portugal and most african country's:D

After i nuked russia 20 min ago i nuked the rest:D and france and th usa where nice enough to help me nuke people:D i love this game:D
-
HAHA! You can all thank me for brightening your lives!
Anyway, try some conventional warfare, it's a bit odd how 50000 infantry are represented by a single rhombus, however.
Try sending the entire RoyalNavy to attack Reykyavik, you then get attacked by all of NATO!

:doubt:
First it is Yugo, not Ugo and second it is not one of African countries and I wasn't talking about African countries in the first place. Geez!
Space crap and beer do dangerous stuff to a mind.

Haha! truly great game, is it not?
Have you tried playing as Niger? So very hopeless.
