Title: Wanted/For Hire notice board
Post by: diamondgeezer on March 09, 2003, 08:41:23 am
How about a notice board for modders? People looking for 'work' could list their mad skillz, experience and stuff, and campaign bosses could advertise vacancies on campaign teams. There could also be a 'wanted' section, where people could post requests for things like models, backgrounds, interface art, etc, and people looking for something to do could take up requests if they like the idea.

Just makes it a bit more central than forum posts, so people know exactly where to go to find work or talent...

Sounds a good idea to me.

Adverts could be set to the poster's password, so the admins wouldn't have to put stuff up and take stuff down. You know how busy they are... :drevil:

You know, it's funny, but I had this very same idea earlier today. I'll look into it - any scripts anyone know of offhand that would do the job, or would I have to code it from scratch? ;)

why not just make it a subforum under modding?

because then it would be a forum, and that would defeat the idea of not using a forum...

I didn't really see that before, but the idea still stands. It wouldn't be that much different from eachother, but whatever...

You'd have two sections to it,

"Job Postings"
"Skill pimpin'"

or something. It would be like a forum. In the first section there would be threads with titles like "Texturer needed for XXX", and any prospetive texturers would reply. In the other there would be htreads like "Nebula artist offering services", with examples of his work, people would comment on it and he would be approached by project leaders.

Exactly. I'm looking into it now, and have found a script system that might work. It'll need a bit of work to integrate it into the site, but shouldn't be too much work. I hope to get it running this week, so expect it by the end of the summer. :D

the end of summer!?

is that the end of summer where you're stationed (Iraq or wherever) or the end of summer here... like, August.

because August is months away, not weeks ;)

Uhm... hate to break it to ya, but summer is the June-July-August months all over the northern hemisphere. I was taking into account the inevitable delays in getting such a simple thing working. :D
