Title: Return of the Karnak!
Post by: Galemp on March 09, 2003, 10:45:59 pm
I heard some people clamoring a while back that Dark's PVI Karnak is in 3 pieces. Well, I've fused them together into one POF (the reactor is still seperate though.) Fully turreted, with subsystems, dock points, and fighterbay paths!

DOWNLOAD! (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/fsport/working/karnak.zip)

Just like on the original, you can blow open the doors to the reactor vents, fly inside, destroy the reactor, and try to get out before the shockwave consumes you. Using this with turret-lock-all on the main station is recommended.

NOW WORSHIP ME YOU UNWORTHY SWINE!!

woa woa woa, you don't have to go that far. It was only a joke man :nervous:

I just kinda realised, the Karnak looks less Vasudan and more early terran or something. It has those odd amun/typhon textures that don't look all that alien, just old.

Just to toss around the idea, maybe the Karnak could be reskinned more like the Cairo or maybe to look a little more terran. Or is the skin what makes the Karnak vasudan?

ooh.. sweet. G'job

Yeah, that skinning is a bit bland.... never liked the typhon, 'specially its textures. I wonder if adjusting the brightness/contrast/hue on those skins'll make it look any better...

BTW: Has cardinal spear for FS2 been released yet? haven't heard abot it for a while...

Does it have a site?

And yea, The Textures remind me a lot of a Deep Space 9 kinda.

Pretty good. The icon looks kind of weird though; try having it shown from the top instead. I actually really like that old-style Sahr texture style, but it does look a bit repetitive on this model, at least on the outside.

Post by: Galemp on March 10, 2003, 08:58:22 am
Leave me alone. I didn't texture it. :nervous:
I tried a top-down icon and it didn't look so good. I'd rather not have to re-do it. (You're lucky you got an icon at all. :p)

Oooh... suppose the inside of the shaft doors, the reactor, etc., were glowmapped? ;7

Nice work.

EDIT: oops, never mind... it is glowmapped :o

New member! Quick, bring the HLP Welcome Megafunk Turret online!

Flamethrowers are under the seats, but you have to wait in line to refill at the tanks in the back. Stay out of the ventilation shafts if you don't like Shivans. Read Karajorma's FAQ, do the FRED walkthrough, and enjoy your stay.

I kind of agree, so did redo the textures to be more terran.  Not much, the doors, insides of hanger bays and reactor chanels were completely replaced, but the outside was same texture with main colour changed from redish-brown to bluely-metal.....

I'll post a pic if people wahnn see...

I am in the middle of seting up a test mission (nasty weapons  array on this battlestation ;7).  I'll get some in game pics..

If you are refering to that Earth, Moon, and the station, I think I can find somewhere to stick them.  It'll have to wait until next week (when I'm back at my school comp) before I can do much with it though.  E-mail me sometime.

Looks Like G.E. is letting peeps test out Karnak huh? OK I need a modling whiz like aldo to step forward to do some work on this baby (Link to picture.) I have to make it BIGGER not quite big enough to get starships through the doors but almost there... Oh and the other stuff is interesting too ;)

Ok so SDF-3 comes outta quantom fold and we see this huge station wi fighter deployed. Also some cruiser/battleship is nearby. We get hailed immediately and turns out this sector is controlled by "The Federation" The other forces are reprresented by "Earth Dome" and "The Narn Regiem". Man I tell you the Narn have Nice ships. I also talked with some of the fighter pilots. The big grey WWII looking ships are called EA BUlldogs (one of a new line), might not be pleasing to look at but man do they pack some firepower. 8 cannons forward, 2 backward, and 5 rocket pods forwar & Backward! no wonder they have 1 pilot and 3 gunners per ship! I tried to get closer to these "Psi Corps" fighters, but I was firmly told to maintain a discrete distance. The pilots were very tight lipped and creepy. All the info I got for now. Maybe we can swing a cultural/military dialogue/exchange with these people... L8tr peeps!!!

Star Trek & B5 meet Robotech on steroids!!!!!!
Title: Most of my project finished..
Post by: Star Dragon on March 12, 2003, 05:47:55 am
Due to uncompatibility I've just about reached the end of the Star Trek conversions. Here's most of what's left in story form... Enjoy!

Getting a scoop from the "Star Base" I headed out near a sector called "Wolf 359". Scuttlebutt suggested trouble from some entities called "The Borg" and since that is the route they took before to get to Sector 0,0,0, this time the Alpha Quadrant would be ready. I was allowed to come pretty close to the assembled ships once my identity and intentions were know (and indemnified them against my 'accidental death' while in the area.  Anyway this is what I saw when I got in system, not that only HALF of the assembled fleet can be seen due to my cockpit blocking the vidcamera.

Next shot is a small craft they call a type 9 shuttle. They were buzzing all over the place like bees along with 2 other types of small craft..

These ships are the Federation fighter, and standard Runabout. Wanting more interesting viewing I started to get closer to the bigger ships when SOMETHING appeared in my way out of thin air, er, I mean space! Yup it was Section 31 (but since they are creepy too I guess it could have been that 'Psi Corps'...Whatever.

There was this one capital ship that looked very much like an Eagle (very Pretty). This ship is crewed by a race called Romulans (look like Elves to me!)

I digress... After looking at a Klingon Strategic Command Ship, the Federation SteamRunner, Norway, and Constitution classes I figured I'd seen enough.. Preparing to leave I stumbled upon something NOT friendly! It open fired immediately so I terminated it with extreame prejudice! (Later I was to find out that this was a 'shadow Fighter' a living death machine with bigger and meaner brothers).

Shortly after that incident the lead flagship ordered all vessels to immediately depart for DS9 (aka Karnak  ) seems the enemy intentional let 359 route slip to section 31 personel so it would get the whole Alpha Quadrant riled up. It worked. I never seen so many huge ships take off that fast in close proximity to each other. That's training!.. L8tr peeps!

I hope you enjoyed this post (I don't make many like this). Both pimping and entertaning.. (crosses fingers) ;)

I'd love to create some weapons for that lot!
Title: If you the talents I got the images..
Post by: Star Dragon on March 12, 2003, 04:32:36 pm
I have over 10 different sets for torpedoes and beam effects sitting in a folder cause I don't know hot to do more than basic torpedoes. If I have 30 images for the quantom to Fluctuate in flight, can I make it an animation and fire the animation???? There are a few cool weapons that would be made (and a few photon varients too like the heavy red and blue micro torps with long spkies!)... Ahem...

The Federation rushed to Karnak, er, I mean DS9 and sure enough the Enemy turned out to be some dude calling himhelf the Galactic Emperor (like I voted for him or something) ;) .  Truns out he used the borg and shadows as patsies and got the Bajorains to evacuate the station. He forced th remaing Fed personel into an Orion blockade runner and dropped them of in Jersey somewhere (with no wallets and no shoes!) What a jerk...

Anyway we tried to liberate DS9 from the evil villan but to no avail. The station is one tough nut! It had 5 Sreds, and over 15 launchers of Photons and Quantoms (total of around 30!)... Here's what happened visually (I hope you like G.E... Oh and THANK YOU!!!!)

   All ships open fire!

Watch out for those weapons!

Too Late...

Well that's it for a while... If anyone (like Diamond Geezer ;) ) Feels like getting these .pofs set with weapons and subsystems ect.... I will send them over the weekend.. Right now I am resizing the cobs. fizxing texture glitches, and shielding them... After that it's up to someone else :) If you want I can send the torpedoes, and the extra wepon GFX files... In a few days.. I tired and busy now!

This will be the "poor man's substitute" till I can get a proper model aquired. And the weapon loadout for the station was just for the screens.  I was thinking of that episode when the Klingons Attacked and Sisko opened a can of Whoop-A$$ on them! Especially with all those photon in the air!!! (my favorite weapon... ;)

I've sent an updated version of the campaign to the FS2 upgrade people. It's now a little more consistent with the canon.

I'll release an FS1 version soon. With BWO moving over to HLP this would be the place to release it at.

Anyways, as for the DS9 comments. I asked Dark to make the design similar to that because it would have a central reactor and the spoke setup would allow for drydock pylons and such to be added in.

It should look a little better in the new FS1/2 version due to some small tweaks here and there.

No, the Port includes the joined version (at least, the latest version does).  All three spokes are joined to the central chamber.  The reactor is a separate POF, but that's to allow for mission scripting involving blowing it up.
