Title: IWAR2 - Taking Out the Trash
Post by: Rampage on March 11, 2003, 05:37:31 pm
Dear Freespace 2 Denizens:

With the new dawn of Freelancer, it is sincerely believed that the Independence War 2 forum should be replaced with a Freelancer forum or whatnot.

The IWAR2 forum has been inactive for awhile here, and it has another community somewhere else.  the last post in one of the IWAR2 forums here was from LAST YEAR!  This should not happen in an active forum.  It has been concluded that IWAR2 is begging to be removed from HLP.

Any comments?  (Don't flame me, please.)

Yep, kill the IW2 forum. It's dead meat.

Well we could at least archive it or something.

You DO realize that about two months after Freelancer is released it's gonna look just like the I-War forum?

Me, I think we should just revive the I-War 2 community. The game's engine makes FreeSpace look like Pong (and with many of the same features built-in that the SCP hopes to eventually get into FS), it's almost infinitely versatile, and modding's nice and simple- even I am willing to go through the entire process for a mod. It's just that nobody has it, because a couple years back it was $50 bucks that very few people were willing to spend- no it must be somewhere between $10 and $20, and is quite worth it.

Correction. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,12579.0.html) :D

But anyway, IWAR2 should be closed down anyway. Makes getting to hosted a little easier :D

It has been concluded that you haven't visited the forum in the last few weeks, seeing as we have a Freelancer forum.  Your point is struck down.

I war is a great game but I absolutely hated the sheer sitting about waiting to get anywhere. Even worse once you get a capsule drive the auto-pilot insists on taking you through capsule space which actually takes LONGER to get anywhere cause of all the time up spend accelerating, decelerating and waiting for your turn in queues (yeah I know you can skip them but whenever I tried I`d always end up in the back of a megafreighter)
When you actually get to the combat the game is fun though which is why I never bother trying to complete it much and instead spent all my time on piracy :D

Bleh, the fighting was the one thing I didn't like about it. The fighter was fun, but trying to turn a big, unwieldy tug about and hit something going by at 2000 meters a second gets tiresome pretty fast, as does the fact that being a good pilot isn't nearly as important in the game as having the bigger gun. Realistic, yes, but games aren't about realism.

I played enough to get hold of the patcom :) Once you have that piracy is fun :)

I know you have a Freelancer forum. And I have been visiting the forums these days, just not as often due to the things happening to my students at school.
