I did consider putting this in my 'fighter' thread, but as it's such a diffrent craft, well....
It's a scaned image of the design, done on graph paper with pencil. I added some shading to help show the shape.

The GTB Trogen
It's a big bomber. It's a very big bomber. In fact, its massive!
It's main role: killing Sathanas Juggernauts.
The idea is that a wing of these, alone, may/could/should take out a Sathanas, and its fighter wings.

I Know, I forgot to mention, It's developed from the Athena, possibly the best bomber in the game IMHO.
This is the fith redesign, BTW
Any more opinons, comments, suggestions?

What Geezer said.. that and it's not that big for making it sound so powerful. BWO has a 95 meter long bomber, but I don't think it's that powerful.

As for making big bombers you might wish to start calling them gunships once they start hitting that sort of size. Then again you might not :)

well, I could increase the length by 50% (90m long then), doulbe the width of the missile bays, add 50% to the first gun bank (to become a 12 point gunbank!:eek: ) and add an extra half-dozen sentrygun turrets, and then yes, it would be a BIG bomber/gunship.
But if I do that, we get into the region of stupid payloads.
It currently can carry 6 helios torpedos and 144 trebuchets. With 4 sentrygun turrets, 2 quad maned turrets, and an aft firing hornet missile turret.
With all the increases above, thats now 2 quad maned turrets, an aft firing hornet missile turret, 10 sentrygun turrets, 16 helioses, and over 300 trebuchets...
Now that is SICK.........

I LOVE your ship! Could the Defiant possibly be an influence? Looking at teh pics it somehow rememinded me first of Athena and then Defiant... (thought your bomber is half the size)...

me thinks if u want a "pilotable" gunship for freespace, it wouldnt have to be like bomber style. i mean when u think bomber, u would think a bomber has anywhere from a couple BIG ASS BOMBS (like the new MOAB's), and such, but more conventional bombs.
A american gunship for example like the Apache helicopter, considered a gunship, has 1 big ass primary gun, high firerate and damage rate, as well as 8 missile launchers with heavy payloads. lets say the size of a Ares or a Herc2, with more the agility of say a myrmydon, like the Apache, if it had the ability to strafe as well in FS, then it would be similar. but basically, u want a ship that can be a massive artillery delivery platform and an agile "gunship" itself to boot. sorta like an extremly heavy fighter with the capacity to say hold 200 tornadoes, and 50 trebuchets, but not the capacity of a bomber.

The original design was for 16 helios torpedos, but arranged diffrently.
SD, I was aiming mainly for the big, bad brother of the Athena. The current design is over three times the length of the Athena. It was also at the outset going to have a beam cannon mounted under the cokpit (hence the three engine arrangement). The back engine would have been there mainly to power it.
This version is based on the A10 Tank Killer, with many more smaller missiles, and the big ASS gun under the nose. Its meant to be a six barrelled, rotary, long-barrelled, HE Maxim cannon with the caliber increased by 50% :D The gun system would be as long as the Hercules.
I would call it the Avenger cannon, but that names aready used..:(
I have to admit, I still not so keen on the outer engines, even after a dozen redesigns...
Any suggestions?
Oh, BTW, just to confuse you all, I have an idea for a 125m long Terran light cruiser, player-flyable, with a hangerbay, based on the Whitestar ;7
Blame Killfrenzy for giving me the idea of large player-flyable ships....

Hmmm, I quite like this!
It's actually not that big, to be honest. The Ursa is 45m long, and there are some huge bombers being made for some campaigns at the moment.
If you want it to be able to take out a Sath, then you need to give it a weakness somewhere. It should be really slow, or be targetable by capship beams, or something, because otherwise it's gonna be too damn good!
Also, make a new weapon for it - a massive rocket, or a really powerful cannon (the A-10 one would be good!) that can chew up capital ships really easily.

I'd have to agree with this. That's a kick-ass model, but you need some proper armour textures on there. Sling a load of Trebuchets under the wings, and you've got a hell of an assault fighter!:yes:
Ooh, by the way: what version of ModelView are you using there? Mine hasn't got all those buttons - I don't have POF-edit, or anti-alias, and stuff like that. It's a pain, 'cos I want to hack the pof of a model I have, but I can't! Must be an old version...:blah:

Texturing was not one of my strongpoints when I started making this, but I improved sigifcantly so far. I plan on givin all my ships a comlete make-over!
The first model, the Thunderbolt is a higly manuverable medium bomber.It has 1 fife-barreld primary cannon, and 2x2 missile bays.
The secod, the Armageddon, is an heavy assault bomber, you can see the weapon list on the pic.(I think I overdid it with the size, was thinking of about 75-80 meters.Have to re-size it)
What version? Don't know, have to check.

That (bottom pic) isn't a bomber - that's a small cruiser, or at least a gunship. And despite what DG's said, I think those that may well be the best non UV Mapped fighter texture I've seen.
Still could do with a UV MAp though.

Actually, I UW mapped only a few faces - cockpit, missile launchers, etc...
Now I have a Truespace plugin that works like Uniwrap form 3DMax. Off to make some textures!!!

Dude, that's just the texture... the model does exist on my hompage, but it sill needs a bit more work (better textures and I need to gap 2 miniature holes)

I'd take off those logos. Instead make that the space where the squadron logo is put.
Other than that, kick-ass model.:D

The Phoenix simboly stays. The squadron logo will go on places where you can currently see the 95'th Knights of Vengance logo (Earth, sword & wings of fire).
