Ok I got all sorts of torpedoes, I can make the tables for them (deadfire, still need to lean about homing), using a single image taken from the animation.) BUT can you fire an animation? If I take all 30 -60 images and bundle them up with ani builder like for explosions to get the graphic sequence like in other games can we fire it so they all flicker and flucuate? This would be a HUGE improvement then a static balll/blob/ whatever... (see Karnak Thread for Station firing my conversion of teh Photon and Quantom torpedoes)...
FYI, for weapons we have phasers, lasers, disrupters, plasma, photons, and a few other things... Plus weapon .pof's for beams, blobs, missiles... about 8 or 9 I think...

I believe the SCP have got working animated textures but I`ve got no idea how well they work or if they can be used for weapons etc.

Animated textures are working, and AFAIK they can be used on any model in the game.

but it hasn't been tested much

There is no model. I'm just wondering if instead of the single pcx for the current torps, replace it with the rest of the images as an animation. However if it neds a model we can made a tiny sphere for each type of torp and animate the textures for it then (like a ballistic primary or missile)... Is this how it would be done?
BTW if anyone is able/willing to try this as a test (and post a screen or two) I can send you a zip of any type torp set you want (fed, borg, red, blue, Quantom, breen, gorn)...ect...

I thought torpedos used model files.

Photons would'nt, they'd just be balls of red light with spikes flying out of them.
