Title: Question converting scn files
Post by: Whitelight on March 16, 2003, 10:37:07 pm
Is there a way to convert a *.scn to a *.pof ?
And is it to complicated (hopes it has nothing to do with Truespace)!!
Can it be done with minimal effort, maybe with PCS?

I believe PCS will convert .scn files. There are certainly tools that will do it cause .scn is a Truespaces scene file.

es, PCS can, or at least could in the former versions.

Use 3d Exploration or Deep Exploration (or similair converted to save the .scn as a .cob

I have yet to find a scn file mostly they are .3ds ot .lwo that I convert to .cob... Long as the poly count is something under 2000 (it varies Iguess seems tempermental to me!) and most importantly GORUP the model!!! Can't tell you how many times I find a model and it's not grouped so it goes into a big file of hopefull future conversion that need to be grouped. L8tr...
And good luck!

So if I can convert from an .scn to a .pof, does gluing within TS not matter

A .scn file is a truespace scene file. AFAIK for you to use one with a pof converter you still have to have glued all the objects correctly. I don`t think you can use it to get around not doing the gluing operations

Euh, can't stand gluing, as it just won't work.
Title: Grouping question?
Post by: Star Dragon on March 18, 2003, 05:27:44 pm
Is grouping the same thing as gluing?

How do I group an object, and then how do I save the.cob so the model doesn't point straight up in the game?

I have probably 40 models that convert (low poly and textuered correctly) but say "object not grouped"

I am only 1 & 1/2 hours away from TS 3.2 yippie! ben biting my nails last 6 1/2 hours!!! My net is so slow and could drop at any time (for some reason Get right doesn't work with multiple 3rd party pages, works fine with file planet though) I hope ts is simple to use for functions like mentioned above... I had all 3 major programs but after I leanred I can barely make a cube I  deleted them figuring they were useless to me and I'd never use them in any way.. took 3 months to get before with decent connection .. Now would take 3 months per program (if my connection didn't drop!) yikes!!!

Play about with Trueview once you`ve managed to download truespace and you should quickly get the hang of gluing/grouping. If you don`t find me on ICQ tomorrow and I`ll talk you through it.
