Me either...

Tried it a few more times and it did work, but I think I know what's going on there...

There's probably an easier way to say it, but any two-digit number added together and subtracted from the original two-digit number will return a multiple of 9, so it follows a simple mathematical pattern.

10 through 19 return 9
20 through 29 return 18
30 through 39 return 27
40 through 49 return 36
...........
