Title: Supernova
Post by: Hippo on March 22, 2003, 01:03:46 pm
I was just sitting watching the FreeSpace screensaver as a supernova came thrgh and took out all the ships. I was inspired, that if there were two supernovas, what would happen. well, i made a mission, whre 10 seconds in a supernova is timed for 30 seconds. but at 35 seconds in, i started another suprnova. the first nova whitened the screen and all, but my ship kept moving and was still uharmed, but then killed 25 seconds later by the second supernova.

Question, is there any way to dictate what sun the supernova starts from if you have multiple?

I think not but we can make it in the source code of FS2

The supernova doesn't really start from ANY particular sun, does it?

As the supernova progresses one of the suns gets bigger and bigger.

I think FS2 engine cannot handle multiple supernovas, maximum one, this can cause problems. Why would the creator's suffer programming multiple supernovas, if they use merely one, and it is not expected somebody has the idea to use two.

Getting caught in one supernova is unfortunate. Getting caught in two is downright unlucky...

It doesn't work outside of Windows 9x though. :(
