I knocked these up last night for the campy with Lunarcell & PSP7...

(planets by me, fire nebulas by Pez)

(Test credits screen)
I'm hoping to try and get a more distinctive look to the missions, to try and make the campaign look more individual.

they look great aldo. i use lunarcell on psp6.0 for most of my planets and Universe to make my stars and nebula unless i feel like makeing lil fluffly clouds using xenofex. in terms of 2-d art, i am good at, but 3d rendering, which these days i found myself doing with the FS2 engine as the main renderer, i just take a snap shot and its nice and spice it up with these plug ins. this is the easiest way to make renders lol. good work.

Hey aldo, how did u do those planets and nebulas? What programs did u use? Where can I get the programs? How much did they cost u?
Also, do u think u two could help me out a little on my planets and nebulas? I have a couple that need to be made but I have no idea how to make them. This is for FS2 by the way.

I used a plug in for PSP called 'LunarCell' - really easy to use -it generates a graphic of a planet based on several slider values.
Basically, first off i have a big image of a planet on a black background, then;
- use a circular mask to cut it out
- paste it onto a transparent background
- resize to 256x256
- draw a single true green dot (0,255,0), so that green is in the palette
- reduce to 256 colours
- select the white background created as a result with the 'smae colour' mask tool
- fill this in green, and save.
Edit stars.tbl to take the value.
Not made nebulas yet, but it's similar.

Could this be used to make maps for planet surfaces i.e. a huge sphere? (I need a planet with a beam cannon - 3D)

go here and click on filters. some of the filters u need certain DLL's for in order torun the properly with PSP and or Photoshop. the serials are within the ZIP file u download. if u dont have PSP, 6.0 or 7.0, i think it is avialable to download for free in there somewhere, and or theres a patch to make it the full version. enjoy.

PSP4 is freeware now. I'm sure I have a disk for it laying around here somewhere... came with a book... it was... HTML 4.0 reference library I think.
Both lunarcell and gitterato work fine with it without any DLLs or modifications.
------------------
I told you that It ("http://www.geocities.com/jskgames/home.html") would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...
-
4! thats old
What do you use?

cool! and I can have the same quality with PSP?
-
cross-compatability?? I think you mean backward...
-
No, he means Cross-compatability. Both Glitterato and Lunarcell were primarily intended to work with Photoshop, not Paint Shop Pro.

Yes, I know but we were talking aobut PSP, wern't we?
-
Yes we were talking about PSP. What Setekh meant by cross-compatability was that plug-ins intended for Photoshop work perfectly well in Paint Shop Pro.
-
I tohught he meant PSP 4 and 7 working together (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Heh, thanks for covering me there Jon (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
