Just a straw poll - I've been wporking on some briefing and techroom animations for Reciprocity, and made a number of animated ship command briefing ones (using animation shop to blend between side / /perspective renders).
Anyway, the smallest size animation is 450Kb, and the largeset 1.1MB (ani format).
Now, would you rather have a 20MB+ DL solely for numerous animated briefings , or a far smaller file with only a few animated anis, and most single frames?
As a point of fact, the Reciprocity Ep1 VP is around 11MB with new tables, 4 movings anis, 2 statics, 7 models (inc. 1 cargo pod), a set of new background pcxs' and new weapons & effects..... all in all I'm aiming to get it under 20MB (then wonder how the hell I upload the thing!)... this is with the 'core' files, so the next DL would be only missions, models (& edited ships.tbl) and briefing, etc anis... whichy would hopefully be around 20-35MB. I know it's big, but there's a lot to it....

As much as I would love to see the ani's and the high end stuff - you should make an option to download a "high end" format with ani's, etc., and a "bare bones" section with just the basic files and mods.
That way people such as myself (56k modem users - I know - get a high speed connection - can't get one where I live), can be able to play your great campaigns.
Sincerely,
Gaultesian

20MB that gonna take a while on this connection
Make 2 - one more me and another for everyones else (who HAS bradbrand, as it seems)
-
20 megs... shouldnt take more than, oh say, an hour and a half. a 7 meg download took me 30 minutes (good time for this modem, especially with AOL). So, either way i will be downloading the big version (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Example animaiton

'bout 500Kb, the worst one of the bunch, but smallest to upload (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
