How did each of you find your way to HLP? I came here because Setekh sent me, but everyone else... well, I don't know why you're here or how you got here? Is there advertising and stuff? Do you guys actively try and attract people or what? It looks like more and more people join everyday, where do you all come from? Dunno, I'm just curious, it's strange how an community of people who have never meet each other face-to-face grows and thrives like this place does :)
Then again, maybe it's cos you haven't met each other face-to-face that you keep coming back

HLP's not that old, so there must be a lot of you who were always here from the beginning. That explains for most of you, actually. I'm mostly wondering about the rest... :)

Lurked for half a year... Came here after the VBB shut down. I think I saw it first there, but was kinda intimidated.

Followed a link from VW, but didn't think much of it then. :o It wasn't until the first model contest, that I began to lurk here regularly. :)

Back on the VBB I'd heard this was the place to go if one had modding questions. I began directing people here even before I stuck my own head in the door. I myself registered in December, 2001. Then a month later I decided to try some simple table hacking for a new beam weapon, and wanted to change the impact ani. Needing information on how to do that, I came here to ask. I've been a permanent fixture ever since.

I gathered as much, as is the case for most of you... I guessed from your post counts (took me a while to find it actually, I was looking for it on the left). You all keep coming back... I don't know why, but I am too :nervous:

I visited this place before it had a forum i downloaded and added my mods here.
I think it was about a few weeks later when they oppend the forums. Thats when i joined the forums and been here ever since.
Learned all my modding skills here and also started rendering.

Let's see... I hung around the VBB for about a year and a half or so since June 2000, when I got FS2. While there, I heard about this dump... er, I mean place of miraculous wonders :nervous:... that was being made by Thunder and Steak. Paid it no mind. Left the VBB after it deteriorated. Well earlier last year I got back into FS and remembered this site and figured I might as well join the insanity.

Lesee... I think I was looking for user-made FS2 campaigns, and that led me to the VWBB. Hung out there in it's prime, and got to know Snipes and DC pretty well. They kept on urging me to join HLP as well, and I finally did.
And to add spice to the story, one day in August, 2002, Shrike asked me on ICQ if I liked my new title. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I looked, and lo and behold, "The Newest Admin" or something of the like, was right there. :p
And venom, we're gonna start implementing thousand mark seperations in the post counts because of you! :p

Oh hey, if anyone's curious, I talked to Setekh today. We just finished a set of exams, though Setekh being the idiot he is (I have wonderful respect for my friends :D) picked all the subjects which require extra assessments... modern history, historiography, drama studies, and all the extension units of English possible (he has to study two Jane Austen books at once. Poor soul). He told me to say hi to all of you and he misses you. Said something about withdrawal symptoms but didn't catch all of it.

I don't know how anyone can survive a Jane Austen book, let alone two. They just move... so... slowly... okay, so maybe I can't appreciate good literature, just gimme a good game. ;)
Anyway, I gotta ask Setekh about you lot. If he's who you say he is, he probably knows most of you.

back then when VBB was still quite active I saw people talking about this place and, well you know the rest :p

I was aproached by, I think it was Thunder at the time who said that my now defunct "Space:Above and Beyond" mod for FS2 would be something HLP would be happy to host. Thats how I first heard of HLP. Then after I couldn't get SAB going, I decided to try and make a FS movie. And since no one was really helpful in the VBB I decided to drop by here and was greeted by many nice and cool people, and basically decided to stay, cosidering it 100% better than the VBB.

I stumbled upon this place soon before the freespace2.com forums died. I've come here every day since.(lurk) i just don't post on most things because i've got nothing to say...:)

I can't really prove the first scenario in any case as I lost a good part of the models I had on display at the time. So I'll just keep thinking optimistically. ;)

I followed a link from TheKenny to his 5th sun project, and that led me here, I posted a few times, forgot about the place, and then came back months later with a VBB link that said "Hard Light Productions, our last, best hope for Freespace" or something like that. Been here ever since, and have increased my modeling ability by a lot... :D

Believe it or not, I never registered on the VBB. :nervous: I came here from F2S when I was looking for hosting for the FS Port. There were plenty of mods hosted here and it looked like a good community. Since then I've made a number of friends here, finished my project, and learned how to model. :)

When I first got into Freespace I used to hang around on the VBB and especially the FRED 2 board. You couldn`t hang out on that forum for long before learning about HLP as anyone who was interested in modding was sent that way (FRED forum was for FREDers not modders :D )
I was registered here before the VBB died but I didn`t make it my primary Freespace hangout until the VBB went down cause I liked the FRED forum a lot.

In my third incarnation in the fifth triennial cycle, I appeared unto the forum in the form of a halo of light to tell of the coming of the End Times. In my fifth incarnation, after that which is spoken of in Revelations, I got bored and came here for no discernible reason. I'd imagine it made sense at the time, and probably had something to do with modding.

I ran a google search for "FreeSpace 2" when I got interested in the game, ended up at the Machina Terra website, and from there followed the link to HLP.
Then I lurked for a while before I joined. :D

Back on the defunct Ross128, I went to post news about my campaign Operation: Underground's first release. Thunder posted it on HLP instead, and sent me an e-mail. So my being here is all because of Thunder's choice of where to post the news :p

I crashed into the outer shell layer of HLP on a deep space spec. ops mission ... busted the ship permanently, a few turrets and myself... the kind peeps here rejuvenated my body, made me a funky cyborg and sent me free to rampage on the HLP boards.

Found this because someone offered me a job (dont remember who, but it was before/during it started). I was a newsie at Ross 128 I think (aswell as GFS), and so.. yeah. Goes back... But I've never been involved here much, not enough time like I had on the VBB. :)
