While it's been known for some time that a new JK product was in the making, it has now been confirmed by Raven, it seems. Follow links for more.

As the title suggests, the rumors and speculation for months over a possible sequel of Jedi Knight have been confirmed by project leader Kenn Hoekstra earlier this morning. The projected release date is set for Fall 2003 as noted, and will contain many of the features mentioned earlier. We can check the progess and any other news here and also at Ravens http://www.ravengames.com/jediknight3/ (//[url)]JK3 Website.
WOO HOO! :):)
Also, because of this news, there is no need to send word of magazines that are just now getting word of the new game, which according to Kenn Hoekstra, isn't a "true" sequel, since it won't be directly following Kyle Katarn anymore. [/q]

Happy April the 1st?

Sounds like some April Fool's joke to me...
-
I don't think so. I hope not.
Note the date on this.

[q]...execs at the company mentioned in passing that a sequel to last year's Quake III engine powered first person shooter Star Wars: Jedi Outcast was in the works to be released in their fiscal 2004 time frame (April 2003-March 2004). Since this was mentioned in an Activision conference call, it suggests that the sequel will once again be a collaboration between Activision and LucasArts.[/q]

I don't think it's an april's fools. This, however, I'd like to god if it were. But apparently it isn't
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - March 31, 2003 - Today, LucasArts lawyers ordered the immediate abortion of the Dark Forces Jedi Knight II modification project. The Jedi Knight II modification project leader had been cautioned a number of times on the use of illegal materials in the project. These materials are the intellectual property of LucasArts, and to use them knowingly will result in criminal punishment. The website and modification project materials are now the material property of LucasArts.
Dave Turner, the project's leader has been warned on a number of occasions, most recently being issued with a formal caution, and ultimatum outlining the immediate dissolution of the modification and all related materials. Mr Turner failed to agree to this ultimatum, and as a result on March 31, 2003 LucasArts' lawyers seized the website and Mr Turner's personal computer for use later in a court prosecution. Mr Turner will have no choice but to pay a fine of $250,000 to LucasArts Entertainment Company, or face a 6-year prison sentence.

*scene at lucasarts™ headquarters*
Nerd with glasses and 14 art degrees comes sprinting through the R&D department bolting
straight for the emperor esque throne currently inhabited by the space gerbil himself
George Lucas™.
Art nerd: Mr. Lucas™, Mr. Lucas™, some fan of starwars™ has gone and created a mod for
a game that we don't own!
GL: What?! A fan we say! How dare she in his disgusting yet profitable loyalty to us
dare make anything that I can't make money™ from!
Art nerd: It's worse than that oh master of the fantasy stroke science fiction genre,
he's actually gone and created a better game than we could ever hope to due to your
fantastic yet restricting stranglehold on anything anyone other than yourself designs
based on the starwars™ universe.
GL: Can we have his killed?
Art nerd: Unfortunately not oh king of the humming justice swords of light!
It's illegal.
GL: What about...
Art nerd: No sir, she doesn't live in Texas so he's exempt from the death penalty.
GL: Have the LucasLaw™ department contact him, send the judge's children this years
entire stock of Clones™ toys and take all of this fan's materials and integrate them
into our next game.
Art nerd: Sir if I might say, you're somewhere between genius and godhood!
GL: Plague me no more! I have a trilogy™ to butcher!

Ditto. I loved JK2 - the force powers and lightsabers were too much to resist. :D
-
It was a bit short, though. But the multi-matches are fun.
-
If only LucasArts released a sequel to Jedi Knight 2 that is set in the New Jedi Order series. I want to fight the Yuuzhan Vong!!!

Looks interesting. What graphics engine is that?
By the way, one thing that I found really funny about JK2 was the way the characters' faces changed in the middle of conversations. For example, right in the opening cutscene, you can see Kyle suddenly shifting his face instantly to a frown, then later back to a smile, and then once again to a frown. :D

Looks like Mr Katarn is gonna have more headache heh?
Woah! This year has to be the best gaming year so far. We are getting Enter the Matrix in June, Max Payne 2 by the end of the year, and Jedi Knight 3 at the about same time. Wohoo!
Well personally, I am much more waiting for MP2 and ETM than JK3. :p

Don't forget Tron 2.0. ;7
