Title: Beam troubles
Post by: Apothess on November 11, 2001, 04:08:00 am
Has anyone else had this problem, i have created a mission where a Orion jumps in and is fired upon by a hostile leviathan, now the orion just sits there and dosen't even fire back with its beams! but it will use its anti-figther beams against the figthers. i have double check to is if the leviathan is a beam protected ship and it isn't, does anyone know how to solve this?

Also was wondering if some one would be willing to make me 2 new ships one destroyer and figther, they are not terran, vasudan or shivan but part of a new race  and i would like them to look scarey as F**k pls.

I'm not too sure because I don't deal with beam-armed ships very much, but I think you have to beam-free the Orion before it will blast enemy caps with it's beams.

I told you that It ("http://www.geocities.com/jskgames/home.html") would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...

All the ships are beam freed but i noticed when the orion is ordered to attack in fred2 the beams work they just don't when the ship isnt moving and it looks clumsy watchin the orion flying round the leviathan doing really fast turns

Make sure the Orion is broadside to the enemy ship.... all the beams are on the sides IIRC.

well, even then it should be able to shoot at least one of his beams, no?

Well, for a test measure, sexp the orion to fire a beam turret at the leviathan.

In fred2 use the k button to cycle through turrets an make sure you have the right turret ready to fire.

The fly around and wait for the thing to fire, if it doesn't, well.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/eek.gif)

If it doesn't, try deleting the sexp's involving the orion,  delete the orion, and replace it.
Then try it again.

I've tried that i even put in other terran ships and shivan(as friendly) and none will fire at the leviathan unless ordered and i checked and rechecked the leviathan to see if it is protected and it isn't. Anyway is anyone interested in doing these to ships for me?

So you're saying that the only ship not being fired upon is the leviathan?

Freaky.  I don't have a clue.

Sorry.

Did you try substituting a different ship for the Leviathan?

Also, what is the Leviathan doing, supposedly?
