Title: RF2 Ships! for everything else
Post by: Turnsky on April 06, 2003, 12:14:09 am
From the Gameshark website...

Red Faction II Ships
Featuring actor Lance Henriksen from The Terminator and Aliens!

THQ announced that Red Faction II has shipped for Gamecube, the Xbox and PC. Featuring an enhanced Geo-Mod engine the game expands and builds upon the experience and technology of the original action game with an engaging storyline, highly detailed graphics and a number of multi-player options. Originally developed for the PlayStation 2, these new versions of "Red Faction II" feature a number of cosmetic enhancements and gameplay improvements. The Gamecube version, developed by THQ's Cranky Pants Games studio, features custom animations, improved texture resolution and color as well as enhanced lighting specific to the Gamecube hardware. The Xbox and PC versions, developed by THQ's Outrage Games studio, include increased texture resolution, along with exclusive multiplayer maps and character models.

Defend your country as Alias, a demolitions expert, with the help of five elite squad members, each specialized in their own means of destruction. Tasked with completing multiple mission objectives in a number of diverse levels, players will have a number of vehicles and an arsenal of powerful weapons at their disposal in a rampage to overthrow the government. Red Faction II features actor Lance Henriksen (The Terminator, Aliens, Millennium) as the voice of squad leader Molov. Refined graphics, enhanced enemy AI and dynamic environments are also featured in Red Faction II along with four-player split screen action including customizable computer opponents.

Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing, THQ states:
"We are very pleased to be bringing our original, internally developed `Red Faction II' to Gamecube, Xbox and PC. In addition to groundbreaking Geo-Mod technology, `Red Faction II' offers gamers a complete entertainment experience with new enhancements and improvements that take advantage of each system's respective hardware."

Team Arena "Best Of" - now only allows odd number of rounds

Apparently they have some kind of more-than-one-person play on it...

A cop in the original movie, it seems.

the game has no multi-player, unless you consider you vs a bunch of bots to be multi-player.
but I don't consiter that multi-player becase there are no multable players.
I know, it's sort of twisted logic, but it makes sence to me :)

and lance was that guy from that "Melinium" show, the guy who was sort of phycic or something, and then it got nice and weird after that.

I don't think you read my post correctly... that was a direct quote from the page about a team arena.

RF2 isn't even out for sale yet so I don't even see how you know it doesn't have multi. :p

becase I've kept up with it, there is no internet multi-player, all there is AI, so the "multi-player" that this game is suposed to have will be a team comprised of you and some bots vs a team comprised entierly of bots.

As far as I know, there will be no online multiplayer in RF2 PC. Unless something has changed recently and we didn't hear about it, you can assume the THQ interview is correct.

Almost every review I've read of RF2 says that it's not as good as RF1.

So considering what an unremitting pile of bland RF1 was, I find myself completely unmoved by this announcement.

RF was, IMHO, a disaster. Of course it made money, FPSes always do, but there was so much wasted potential there. About the only thing going for it was the geo-mod capabilities, which Volition is hopefuly going to implement in future game engines.

Hmm... I know somebody who's going to get it... maybe I'll ask if it's fun even without multi. :)

Check out the Hive mod.  It really improves on the game, and adds a ****load of weapons.  Even a starship troopers-style "nuke". :D

Believe it or not, but Lance Henriksen was actually slated to play the role of the Terminator before they cast Ah-nuld. I **** you not.
