Is there any SEXP which can do this ?
It seems that none of them (Set Subsystem Strength, Sabotage Subsystem) works for Alpha1.
In which I fail to see the logic to be honest.
-
I`ve never tried either but are you saying they don`t work cause you`ve tried them in the game or just cause FRED complains that they don`t work.
FRED frequently complains that things don't work when they in fact will.

For the two SEXPs above, Alpha1 does not appear in the argument list at all. All the other ships are there.
I've also tried Randomize Subsystem (or what), where also Alpha1 can be selected as argument, but FRED gives an error message about an invalid subsystem. It may work in game, but I did not go any further.
What I would really need is the other two SEXPs.

Edit Data is A-1 Supar...
Anyway, this has been fixed in fred2_open 3.5.

Fred Rule #1:
Just because Fred says something won't work doesn't mean it won't work. Fred is a hypochondriac.
Fred Rule #2:
If Fred won't let you do something through normal channels, do it manually. FS2 mission files are text files, what damage can you do? Sometimes, all you need is a bigger hammer.

Just do a backup file!

Yep ! My Huge AAAf (Absolute Antagonistic Anti-FRED) Hammer did the job.
It works.
I'll keep hammering. ;)

Yeah, some of my missions make FRED2 give strange complaints such as "player ship is not in Alpha wing" and "one of the starting wings has different orders from the others," while the game works perfectly fine. Not sure why the second of those even matters... :wtf:

It's because FRED expects you to give Beta and Gamma wings the same initial orders as Alpha has (which is NONE). Simply because they are in the same squadron. Also the Player Orders section should have the same orders ticked for these ships.
But when you change that, FRED only gives a warning (usual grey pop up).
In my case it gave the white "debug report like" eror message, which was more frightening at the first look.
I learn to live with it.:)

FRED already does that automatically.
And people often forget that even though FRED provides nice dropdowns for nearly everything in the Events editor, you can actually type directly into almost every field. This is how you can force actions on "Alpha 1" even when FRED doesn't want to give you this option.
There is a SEXP that you can use to affect A1's subsystems, but I forget which one it is.

Yes, it works this way only the annoying pop up comes when I open and save the file.
I suppose that V omitted A1 from the list to avoid cheating in MP missions.
(When keypressed XX --> Set subsys strength __Alpha1__ Hull__100%, etc.) ;7

Ummm... no. In multiplayer everyone is running exactly the same script.

That's true. But only one of them knows the magic key combination. The one who wrote the mission. :D
Assuming that most players don't use FRED of course.
But anyway cheating is BAAAAAAAD, so admins please delete this thread. :)
