Been playing around a bit with object subtraction in truespace - continues the theme from Battle Scars. Here ya go:

I wanted to add in corpse floating about (as suggested by Stryke 9) but couldn't find a good model file... :doubt:

Well, she's pretty butch so it's an easy mistake to make.
:nervous:
:shaking:

Interesting, though rather too dark to see much very well.
Oh, and by the way:Diemos's
(http://www.angryflower.com/bobsqu.gif)
:)
-
then whats the plural for Diemos? Deimi?
-
Diemoses? :D :p
-
Well, -Deimos's- would imply possession (also -Deimos'-). I expect the plural for Deimos would be Deimii, but then remember that Deimos is a moon of Jupiter (edit: mars, sorry. I'm tired), so to be correct there shouldn't be a plural in the first place ^_^
So, in other words, you can do what you like, i.e. Deimii, Deimosses, Deimoses... There isn't a proper way.
-
Deimos is one of the two moons of Mars :wtf:
Deimos and Phobos
-
ehh... Yeah. Oops. Well, argument still applies. I think I should sleep now... :p
-
NO!! Teh DIEMO'S is a moon of JUPITAR!
Sorry. Too many errors in one thread. I freaked out. :nervous: I do the same thing seeing "Wierd Al Yankovich."
Back on topic, it's hard to see what you've done. Brighten the background in the immediate vicinity of the sun, so we can see the silhouette clearer.

All that and yet it still doesn`t explain what to do if the word ends in an s, the one that throws most people. :)

Pretty sure Deimos belongs to Mars...unless Jupiter took a bit of a vacation over by Mars and picked up Deimos and Phobos at the club.....

Yeah, you might be right, I have a nice bright flatscreen monitor, our curvier views may not be able to see it properly.
Anyway, a new background, and a new texture. Ooo, and new lighting.

Now that its less dark you can see the textures and damage and things - exposing my shoddy work :nervous:
And as a bonus feature - brighter star:

Mummy, mummy, look what my plug-ins did!
-
:eek2: That's much better!

For that matter, mistaking me and Tiara doesn't put you on the Not Going to Hurt list, either.
What? I figured that list would be simpler than a "To Hurt" list.
-
*writes name on the "Not Going to Hurt list"
*runs away unseen ....

this one is actually good desktop background material.
Would it be too much to ask you to make a 1280x1024 version :)
-
"Certain" mortal beings that replied to this thread are asking for the the Judgement Axe to obliterate them.
:p
Ow, and your brainzzz will be gift rapped and sent to Stryke for suction.

Thank you very much sir ^_^

I had an idea looking at those beautiful pics!
Have a search party scouring the wreckage for survivors or salavagable parts, like a few Faustus's and maybe some freighters, and of course a cruiser for protection.
You could also go really far with using search lights to light up some parts of the Diemos's hull, to bring out details in the hole and some hunks of debris also!
Looks wicked other wise...I should learn how to render...I got loads of ideas...

Thanks man!
Get rendering! I wanna see what it looks like!

EDIT: I just realized how old this thread is. Sorry for the bump.

I like the one with the planet in the background, its brightness helps to bring out the debris a lot. My only qualms with that shot are planet-side lighting (why doesn't light on planet match light on Deimos) and the fact that you have given the moon an atmosphere. Otherwise, great work. I'd love to know how you gouged out the hull like that.

Your right about the lighting, but just cause it's a rocky planet doesnt mean it cant have an atmosphere :p

I used the object subtraction tool in Truespace. I made a cylender and textured it with a damage texture, then aligned it with the diemos and used the object subtraction tool, under Boolean operations. Its quick and effective, though add some extra damage detail, ie girders sticking out.
Some of the little chunks were from object intersections, and some i just made myself.
