Stop me if this is too hard.
Over time there have been queries about atmospheric missions. I've had a silly thought.
In the nebula missions, we have a different background. Would it be possible to *adjust* this so that we can have coloured skies and clouds?
Naturally the ground would be a problem (possibly a pof file of the ground which we flag as untargetable and invisible to sensors or something?)
It would open up the mission tree a bit. I kinda like the missions from WCIV where you have to rescue the prisoner from the facility.

you can make a skybox with backgrounds, and I think you could probably tweak something out of your ship exploding after 60km from 0,0,0 use a .pof or the like to do the ground.
I was thinking how to implement an atmosphere facsimilie onto my planet .pof, ideas anyone?
EDIT: if one were inclined, might one be able to create an SEXP that turns on the nebular effects? linked with a distance trigger, that might have some use. I think it'd break realism in multiplayer though... :\

Play Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom and you'll see what I mean. :)

I don't have it, sorry :\
(believe me, I want to though)
any idea where to get it? how big, etc?

You'll have a job getting it - it's not Warez at all.
Basically, it had a simple hilly ground with grassy textures on it, buildings and a blue sky.

I can't visualize tonight, do you have a screenshot, that I might behold it? :)
