a little thingy.... as I do not like the Ganymede Docking Ring at all...
without boxes...
with boxes: control center, hangar, and so on, should go within these boxes. I'm not sure how to develop them further, yet.
with an Orion Class Destroyer docked.
still under developement... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Looks pretty nice... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Maybe you should get in contact with Sandwich and ask about integration between an Arcadia, a GTEx* class, and your docking ring. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Oh, and Welcome to HLP. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

when it's finished, I'll do that, for sure (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) i've had another idea how to improve it... it's pretty basic right now...
bt, i've been surfing on the HLP forums for quite some time, but i rarely post.

I await your message. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
BTW, I see that you're using Rhino - did you make use of the tutorial ("http://www.geocities.com/sandvich/fs2/rhino_fs2/index.html") I did for it? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

i had a look at it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Well done. But i knew already how to use rhino... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) and truespace too. Only one thing... I don't know why but I don't have the TrueView plugin (which should come bundled with TS...). Any clue where to find it? It was on the Caligari site, but now it's there no more....
Update
------
i did indeed download your updated toolbar... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Heh - I noticed just now... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
So, you use Rhino from before, eh? Any tips for me? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Ya think so? I've seen a LOT worse (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Those docking rings actually would seem more efficient than the ganymede's, imagine how much money you would have to spend on all those rotating docking rings the gany has...
The size is quite nice as well.
An idea: You could have seperate "prongs" off the main docking rings(which support larger vessels in construction) and on those new prongs, you could make smaller rings in which smaller vessels can be constructed.
Just an idea though, the poly count might be too high.

uhm... why not? I will think about it today... maybe tomorrow I will have something done... in the meantime, this is how i developed the "main" docking ring...
the red part should be the control center, and maybe, below it, a little hangar will have place, don't know yet... I also had another idea: i will probably add some engines, so that it can be moved... think of a drydock, wich can repair ships while at sea... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) you could move the drydock in, repair the ship fast and at a lower cost (as someone else said... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)) and then move it again out of system...
(p.s: I did change the my winXP skin... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tux.gif) great OS..)

update...
new "prongs"...
updated control center (red), with a green Orion docked, a blue Mentu (docked too) and a purple Terran transport arriving..

Wow, cool - that thing is really shaping up. I can't wait to see you put some textures on it. What's the polycount like? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
It is turning out pretty cool. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Next you'll need some half completed ships to put inside of it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

yep, you are right... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) and XP... i did indeed format my HD... almost a year ago, when I installed the first Whistler beta... :P anyway, I'm proceeding with the model but I don't want to think about texturing it... a nightmare... even with sandwich tutorial...
-
I should know what MS3D icon looks like! I use it almost everyday! (YAY! MS3D YAY!)

Works fine for me.... what error are you getting?
-
it isn exactly an error... i'm able to group objects and/or lights with drag and drop and can also delete/copy objects, but other features does not work (i cant rename, namegroups setted with keyframe does not appear, etc..)
the only reason to use it with only this features is to glue easily lights and objects, since lights does not appear on key frame, but for all the other stuff keyframe appears to be more useful in my case, and anyway i like it, so it really does not matter this problem (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
