Hey everyone,
I'm kind of new to the neighborhood of this forum, and this doesn't have anything to do with hard light productions, but you guys seem to know you're way around FreeSpace 2, and I can't seem to find any good info on the net about this.
I'm starting work on a brand new, full scale mod for FS2, but can't seem to get this one thing to work. I am trying to edit the high-res interface .pcx images for the "choose pilot" screen, found in the sparky_hi_fs2.vp file. I extracted the images I needed from the .vp with vpview32 and edited the coloring in the images so I could put them back into the game and see how the color scheme worked. Unfortunately, I can't get the game to accept them. It just shuts down before it gets to the choose pilot screen! I've tried everything I can think of, from pasting the images ino the data\interface directory to completely reassembling and replacing the sparky_hi_fs2.vp in the root directory. How do I get it to work?!?! HELP!
Your fan

Alright Sephiroth mate? Someone'll beam you in a minute.
All images for FS need to be 256 colour PCX files. If I were you I'd double check your graphics proggie hasn't set your colour count to 16 million when you're weren't looking :)

Take note that some indeed most features require that you be in 24-bit mode to function. PSP locks me out of the advanced selection features if I don't convert to 24-bit mode.

Nah. Don`t worry about it. This is the sort of question this place is here for.
I think DG hit the nail on the head. but I`ll also add that if you`ve changed any of the ani files they also need to be 256 colours with all the images having the same pallette.
