You may remember my island studio, with the blue rings. Well, the next project is to design a retirement home on the lake shore to complement it. I've crammed a month of work into a week, and I'm somewhat exhausted from it, so please excuse me if I'm not more verbose. I'll let the renders speak for themselves.

I still have to tweak the site model to get rid of the wrinkles and kinks, and I need joint lines on the walls, floor and glass, but this is pretty much it.
I'm going to bed now... looking forward to your comments in the morning...
:sigh: zzzzz....

cool...I wouldn't mind retiring there...
and you have an actual boat this time :p
nifty design, but it seems a bit cramped to me, IMHO.

re-arrange that bedroom

Nice, but... a month of work?:wtf:

apart from the fact this is impossible ( the "windows" ), it looks very good. Find soemthing, at least, for the area where a column goes through the glass.
-
Well, not impossible, you'd just have to cast the glass on the spot.:p
-
Erm... Would so many stairs and open high places be appropriate/safe for a retirement home? Assuming that the owners are retiring at 60 + as per normal... you'd think shallower stairs even ramps, or better yet put it on a single storey...
Too late now of course, but still...

To answer some of your questions...

Those bedrooms have been a big pain. I'll see what I can do, but given that two of the walls have doors in them, and the other wall is sloped so nothing tall can be pushed up against it, and we want the bed facing the window, and there needs to be a clear path through here, this is probably the best solution.

A week of actual work. :p It's about a month's worth of development, though. What I would normally spend three days designing and one day modeling I had to do in a single night. This is about the 5th version of this, I might add.

Of course it's impossible, currently. Like I said, I need joint lines on the walls, floor and glass to hold everything together. I didn't want to put them on until the design was finalized, however, because it takes a long time to do and I only wanted to do it once the design had been finalized.

See that column with the blue squares? That's an elevator. ;) The third and fourth floors will be made safer when I include parapet walls and glass joints. The main entrance from the parking lot is a ramp, too, so there's no worries there.

Try slapping on some fractal noise on your flat-coloured surfaces. Makes it look less plastic. ;)
