What do you need to update your version for? If it's for POF editing capabilities or something, why bother? Use it and PCS in conjunction.
If you insist on getting the latest version, then I don't think there is a link anywhere. Descent network isn't listing anything, HLP has a link to your version on fileplanet, all other sites on the net have links to even older versions.

Normally you'd just get it from Descent-Network...but it seems to be having server troubles.

As are all internet websites today.  Its just a really messed up day...if another bad thing happens I'm going to go nuts.

Quick EVERYONE send him a copy! He's made the fatal mistake of just giving out his address and asking for people to send him a half meg file! :D

Seriously though FT why do you need it so badly? I`ve got it an it's a nice program but what does it do that the older versions of ModelView don`t? Or more specifically what does it do that someone like you (who I don`t believe mods) needs?

EDIT : I see I`m not the only one confused by this severe case of upgraditis :D

Secondly have you tried updating it using the update option in the help menu? I can`t remember how that worked but I seem to remember that is what I used when I wanted to update.

I need it because of the new anti-aliasing feature.

WHAT!!!  THATS WHAT YOU NEED IT FOR?

A minor smoothing of lines that you look at for utility reasons is the reason?  Just wait till the site comes back up again.

If you don't like it, don't read it. That's my answer to everything.

"Your room looks a mess"
"Don't look"

Etc.

But, back to the topic, just to please you.

What is the latest version? what number?

Yeah for Geocities it's better to link to a page that has the zips linked from there.  It used to work without problem, but they like to block people who take advantage of their free space without linking through their ads.

Got it working now, thanks. I see it still has a limit on vertices... no more than 10,000 allowed. ;)

:wtf: you broke a 10k limit?
ahh well, upped all limits again and now even you can't hope to break em :D
poly limit: 100 000
vert limit: 300 000

hmm, overkill, granted, but it works :D

same link as before, same proceedure: http://www.geocities.com/vasudanad/modviw32.zip

Yeah, but I think that was because every polygon had its own vertices  unwelded with the other polygon vertices in the same position..... darn Rhino. :p

I'm re-editing the model in MAX, and it reports 3576 verts and 6452 polies, with full LODs, no debris, not much turrets. I'll probably both lower and raise that as I work on it - it was one of the earliest models I did and I've learned a lot of dos and don'ts since then. :)

oh boy,
i dunno how, but i missed bumping the max normals, and some of the terran inferno ships break that limit. updated the exe with higher limits on normals (100 000). again, same link as before and same installation proceedure (paste the updated exe over the current one): http://www.geocities.com/vasudanad/modviw32.zip
to test if it works, open the inferno terran ships vp and try opening the terran knossos and the warlock. :)

Well I can open those in beta4b, you shouldn't need expanded limits for any of our ships that I've released so far.

really? that's odd. mine said they broke a normal limit of 10k....
strange. maybe i accidentally lessened it when bumping all the other limits. ahh well, fixed now :)
i reallly like a lot of those inferno ships btw :) especially that infelite model's textures- simply the best i have ever seen :eek2:
