I was wondering, does the GTRF Triton only have a dockingpoint for containers?
I'm toying around with FRED, and i was wondering how i could get another ship to dock with it.
I know i can't dock another Triton on it, so what ship would be able to dock with it?

It's got a dock on the side of it. If I was in XP I'd whip you up a screen shot. I think there's a line of code which stops certain ships docking to certain ships, freighter-freighter being one of the cases. Experiment - try it with an Elysium. Always perfrorm docking experiments with an Elysium :nod:
BTW the SCP has done away with the restrictions in what can be docked - or at least part of them.

Hey, while I'm here - do you have modelview? You can easily see stuff like docking points... actually, you can see them in FRED as well if you look in the View menu :nod:

Yes, i know i can see the dockingpoints in Modelview, but it doesn't show what ships are allowed to dock to it, does it?
Well, the Triton has two dockingpoints, one on the cargobay, and one on the bottom, i'll guess i'll have to experiment abit to find out

But i'll find out how FS defines them sooner or later :) I'm examining the ships.tbl atm, and i'll look at them other tbl's too ;)

You won't find dock points definded in any table. And in your initial post, it looked like you thought the Triton had only the one docking point, see? Thus, I said you could see the dock points in MV or FRED, and you came at me with a tone I didn't care for. So I got a bit miffed and tried to explain why I told you about Modelview. Easy, no?

Ohhh, some time yet. I'm basically having to do everything myself with only little bits of help from other HLPers - luckily the models are 90% stolen from other games and stuff, so I'm just converting them. Though I must admit the model side of things is on the home straight... after that there's just skinning, interface art and the campaign to do :shaking::D

Story details are sketchy at best, but the campaign will definitely be set aboard a Royal Navy carrier, with the player either in the Fleet Air Arm or the Royal Marines... no doubt the five-eight will make a cameo or two, and I may just include something special for those die-hard fans who reckon they could take on the ace of aces ;7
As for beta testers, keep an eye out, but there won't be anything for a good while yet :)

Ok, i'm stuck here.....
I got a damaged Triton, an Elysium transport, a cargo container.
The cargo container is docked with the Triton on CargoDock 01.
The Elysium jump is later on, initial order is:
Dock with TRiton using Topside docking to Triton's Dock2.
The elysium just sits there, doing jack.
So i added a waypoint near the Triton, have the Elysium fly to it, then dock, still no luck :(
I've read the walktrough several times already, and there's nothing there that explains why it's not working (in the walkthrough they have a triton docking with a TC-TRI).
Any idea's what's wrong here?

You`re trying to dock two ships at the same time? That's the problem. FS2 won`t let you (I can`t remember if FS2_open will).
Release the TC-tri but don`t move away from it and the elysium will now move in and dock with you while making it look as if the triton and it's cargo are still docked.
Gotta remember to put something in the FRED FAQ about this one cause it comes up all the time.

That'll probably be the problem then.... so just remove the docking with the TAC 1 should solve my probem, gonna try it :)
I added an event to tell the Triton to undock with the TAC 1 when the Elysium reached it's waypoint, nothing happened :(
Could this be because of the fact that i killed of it's engines & nav systems?
[EDIT] I tried it with engines & nav on 5% & then it worked, however, it did move away from the TAC 1, wich made it look silly ;)
I asume i'll have to use some messages to make it seem that the other dockingpoint is damaged or something

Use jettison-cargo... it makes a freighter undock without going through the undocking motions.
EDIT: FS1? Don't you mean FS2?

Yes, that's right, it just sat there bumping into the Triton ;)
I'll see if repositioning my waypoint can help.... *sigh*
(And they call it Artificial Inteligence ? :ha:

Changing the waypoint does zilch, keeps bouncing onto the hull of the Triton :(
Does anyone have an idea on this? The only way i can get it to dock is if i enable the engines on the triton, but then it'll move away from the TAC 1 container... There's got to be a way right?

Seems that when the engines have 1% or higher, you can dock, engines dead = no dock :(
Is this a bug? Or is this normal behaviour? I'm going to test some more stuff, maybe turn off the glow-effects for the engines or something like that, but still, it's anoying :)

Yeah, the artificial idiots do that quite often when docking. :p Moving around the paths used for docking in the Triton's pof file might help, since some of the default models don't have those positioned too well.

Erm, this isn't for your mod with the Angel is it... because the Triton and the TC-TRI are a matched pair - both were designed and first appeared at the same time - no TC-TRI, no triton...

Ok, so i'll have to replace the Triton, any big FS1 freighters you can think of? :)

Erm, the Poseidon and Chronos (the Amazon Advanced model is a recyled GTFr Chronos from FS1, or you can get the proper Chronos from GE's Port. Neither were very big though, and which one you use depends more on what sort of cargo needs hauling.
The Chronos was designed to take TAC1s, and it's a civillian freighter. The Poseidon was designed to take the smaller Caro containers (TC 1 TSC 1 etc.) and it's a military freighter.
Of course, since this is Pre FS1, if you can find an old looking Freighter mod, you coul use that as a the bulk freighter of the day, retired before the Great War.
