Do your self a favor and see Spirited Away. It is without a doubt the best animated film I've ever seen, and is easily in the top ten best movies I've ever seen.
It's the kind of movie that after it's over you sit there and are disgusted with the low brow, inane crap on the television.
Beware however. It is over two hours in length.
But you MUST see this film. Perfect 6 out of 5 stars.

2hrs? that all? i SAT through a LOTR marathon at one stage....the first two movies...

heh? Spirited Away is excellent, no doubt, but it's still not even the best movie from Ghibli. Try Laputa or Nausicaa :P

nope, didn't have them on video tape, and my friend wasn't willing to switch to the PC screen at 8 AM :P ( that said, watching Dead right after the seires would have been kinda boring :doubt: )
Ant Thunder, we'd done worst ( The Mysterious Cities of Gold, 34 episodes :D ) but i picked up an exemple everybody might know :)
-
Yep, Spirited Away was a real blast, saw it in the movies and it was awesome as Miyazaki films usually are. But IMHO Mononoke Hime still holds the title of "Best Animated Film" in my list (Lion King comes second with many others including Spirited Away :) )
The fat mouse and small bird were a great comedy :D
But overall there were many unique creatures and that made the film really rich.
GO AND SEE IT! :thepimp:
-
i didn't like Spirited Away.
then again, i don't like anime.
-
Anyone see Metropolis? I thought that was ok.
Where's a link to Spirited Away?
-
Official Site:

i dunno... usually here the better a movie is, the longer they keep it in theaters. for example, Lord of the Rings will stay out till early June, but movies like Spirited Away that don't make much money, will be in theaters for two weeks if its lucky. it's already on DVD, and it just came out.
-
no... it's the more 'popular“it is, the longer it stays on theaters. Quality has got nothing to do with this.
Look at Freespace.
-
true, true Stunaep... it is the more popular the movie... but the popular movies are usually better.
-
one word: Titanic. :doubt:
-
note: usually :D ;)
Also, i think Titanic got what it deserved, i mean, it has to have been the biggest scale movie ever made. the sheer manpower that went into making the movie was incredible... building a ship the ACTUAL SIZE of the original Titanic? That's just incredible. also, the story may have been pathetic, but the acting, and some of the scenes (like in the engine room, the ship sinking, etc.) was awesome, you have to admit.

independance day.
oh, and I hate american pie, I was being ironic ( tho I don't hate ID4, it's entertaining as hell -yeah, hell is very entertaining, gotta love those succubi :D-)
-
ID4 = Independence Day?
shouldn't the movie "Independence Day" be ID ?
what does the "4" mean :)
-
4th of july....
There are many independence days.. I suppose ID4 sets them apart. Not to mention plain ID looks gay in advertising.

What's your problem with this movie?

Don't diss Independence Day. Any movie with flying saucers that can blow up an entire city and dead-guy hand-puppets is a classic.
-
And ID is the name of a british film involving and undercover cop who tries to stop football hooliganism and ends up ruining everyones lives.
On a related note, watch Crazy/Beautiful. It's got Kirsten Dunst in it, which is reason enough, but it's also amazing.

-
Isn't Jessica Biel in it too? Kirsten's hot, but she needs boobies.. :sigh:

4 hours.
I liked Titanic alot, despite DiCraprio in it.
-
Beh. You got to see whatsername, the ho-bag, naked, which was more than I expected from one of those family-type flicks, but she ain't all that great and everything else but the sinking was bad enough to make me wish I had drowned before the age of mediocre movies sucking up for Oscars.

why thanks :D
it's one of my favourite anime series, so it deserved a complete wtaching session :) ( and no, the fact that it's half french has nothing to do with my fondness for it. Just listen to the musics and you'll be hooked -well, if your version is not adapted from the japanese version of the show, they've changed the musics and they franckly suck in the japanese version, don't fit with the show at all )
-
Aah, The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Saw it from one Polish channel quite a while ago (oh those times). It was really good
Can't remember much from it though...
-
That Mendoza fellow was quite cool, though he had an unhealthy interest in children

well, he has an unhealthy children which hold the keys of a city supposedly built in pure gold :p
raaaaaaaaaaaah:
btw, it's 39 episodes, not 34, which makes me even more crazy :doubt:
-
so spirited away is really that good, huh? why do they do things like that? take deep, well written stories and then pee on them by making them anime?
-
