currently can me have Divx movies in Freespace 2. The reason I am asking is that I am trying to place a DIVX movie into a fs2 campaign.
-
Yes, so long as the player has the DivX codec installed on thier system.

And how do you do that exactly. I have noticed FS1 has a field in the mission file (you have to open it in a text editor) but have the SCP guys put a field in the SCP FRED2?

I would have thought that movies were incorporated the same way that they were in FS2. In the campaign file.
Open up the campaign editor and try putting in a divx movie in the relevant box. I can`t remember if you should include the extension though so try it with and without if it doesn`t work the first time.

well i tried a divx movie in the campaign editor and put it into the mission video or something like that and It didn't work
-
Well I know it worked when I was testing Random Tiger's movie code for him. I haven`t tried it since but I know it was possible to do it back then.
Did you try putting the movie in the data\movies drawer?
-
first there is no data\movies folder
secondly there I placed it into the data folder and the root directory. I also used it with the -mod option. I have a folder called SCP with it in it I tried putting in the SCP\data folder also.

So make one! That's where movies are supposed to go.

Hmmm. I`ll have to give this a try myself later. It did used to work.

You have to start fs2_open with the -dxshowvid flag. That stumped me for a while too.
-
hahahaha it doesn't work
I used this command line fs2_open_3_5_3_unofficial.exe -mod SCP -dxshowvid and also fs2_open_3_5_3_unofficial.exe -dxshowvid
Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -dxshowvid

kernel32.dll 77e814c7()

am I using the wrong flag?
-
Gah - I must have misspelled it. Check the list of command line options in the readme.

-dshowvid

ya i put a divx movie bastion.avi in my root my scp/data folder and placed it into a SCP/data/movies folder and still blah. oh I tried the -dshowvid or somethin like that and it still didn't go. I placed the word bastion.avi in to the mission briefing field in the campaign editor after the first training mission from the original campaign and saved the campaign as a different file name and gave it the campaign name FReespace 2 SCP. and still no video
