Title: Happy Easter
Post by: Razor on April 27, 2003, 07:42:40 am: Today is the Orthodox Easter and since I am an Orthodox my self, I wish a happy Easter to all other Orthodox HLPers.

You know, I've always wondered why Christians don't celebrate the Jewish holidays. We started out as a Jewish sect, after all....

But as Christianity spread beyond the Jewish community, those celebrations and rituals and holidays which were not particularly applicable to Christians of non-Jewish background were not transplanted. This is in line with the decision of the earliest recorded Church council, in Acts 15.

But I warn you that if you get me started on that subject, you'll never see the end of it, as that's the main focus of my dad calling in ministry. :D

Post by: Carl on April 28, 2003, 01:29:04 am: Many people don't celebrate their roots simply because they have so many. Take me for instance: I've got German, French, Dutch, and English. If I were to celebrate all of the cultural holidays of each one, I'd get nothing done.

A bloke I knew really well a year or two ago wanted to start an online church. I wonder if it'd work. :)
