I really could use pof2cob, the program that converts pofs into cobs, so I can make small changes to certain models. But I can't find it!
Does anyone have it, or knows where it is?
Oh, and BTW, when doing submodels, what is the correct method that produces proper arrangement? Is it select main submodel (hull), then Glue-as-(child/sibling), then the desired submodel?
This works for turrets right? Does this work for LODs too?
-
Why do you not use PCS that can pof to cob conversion too ?
-
Quite. Ask Kazan.

If you're using the glue controls you'll have to go up and down the hierarchy a few times to check you've done it correctly.
Instead get Truespace 3.2 (now available for free download) and use Trueview. It's easier, quicker and if you f**k it up you'll notice it immediately.
If you're building Turrets I suggest having a look at the tutorial I did on the matter for step by step advice.

Well, I tried ages ago and I just couldn't work it. May try again at somepoint. Just got to find it....
About TS, I HAVE TS3.2 (just re-installed it), but I don't seem to have this 'Trueview' plugin installed. Where is it, and is it free?
Please don't flame me, I'm still a newbie at this:nervous:......
-
Look in the tSX folder in the TS main directory.
-
trueview.tsx (http://underworld.fortunecity.com/pacman/106/fs2mods/shipcreationguide/trueview.zip) and its free.
-
Thx;)

I try to help where I can.
-
btw you have to search for cob2fs2, if you don't want to use pcs

It's pretty simple. Simply load in the pof and then select pof to cob from the menu. Save the cob wherever you want.
Of course whenever I try to save a cob the first time I make the mistake of not loading the pof first. If you do that I think it will still save a cob but there won't be much of use in it :)

PCS works far better than the old pof2cob, PCS has only a few minor axis recenterings to deal with (wich you don't even realy need to do) pof2cob on the other hand would convert everything backwards and insideout, not to mention that it would give you forked up materials so unles you knew what you were doing you would think there were no textures

That's my phrase! You stole it from me in the TAP forum!
-
OH....no have you the copyright of the phrase ?
Its not your phrase the phrase to belong to nobody.
-
That is indeed true, and I meant no anger by it, I was just a bit peeved that I said that to you a few days ago, and now you are using as though you have a right to! Which of course you do.
-
YES and i don't want to argue with you over so a silly phrase.
-
I'll argue with anyone about anything! But in this case I'll ake an exception, because I've got a hat on.
-
An argument hat?
-
Ohno, an anti-argument hat. Specially designed to soothe the brain and so avoid any confrontations that might damage it. (the hat, that is)
-
How rare

Stupid question:
Why don't u use Lithium for that conversion?Lithium can load POF and for sure can save COB:P
-
lithium save pofs but doesn't save hierachy
-
Found the latest version of PCS just before my last post. NOW I understand! Did everything I needed!:D
Forget about POF2COB now. No problems.
Found that true view. that should help, but still, do you use glue-as-child or glue-as-sibling?
From now I'll use these tools:
Modelveiw32- subsystem,weapon and texture editing/replacement
PCS- docking, paths, view points and COB <-> POF conversions
FS Mission Manger- Shield Vertex editing
Maybe now I'll figure out how to do lods and submodels properly.
Thx everyone!;)
PS: Admins may now close this thread

I don't do either. I just drag and drop in Trueview itself. See if you pick up an object in Trueview and drop it on top of another one they get glued together. I just keep doing that until the hierarchy looks like the one on the PCS autogen page of this (http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/fstut/fstut_index01.htm) tutorial (or like it does on my own one). IP Andrews Tutorial (you'll find a link in my FAQ) also has another good example of what that should look like.
