Title: PCS/Aurora
Post by: StratComm on April 28, 2003, 07:39:44 pm
Ok, I've got both of these programs and I use them both heavily (along with Modelview) in making ships.  However, there is one thing that bugs me...  When I save a file in Aurora, and open it in PCS (yes, the newest version) I can not save changes.  In fact, all of the data that I have loaded into the model, especially paths, is inaccessable in PCS and I then get a crash when attempting to save.  I'm not sure where the error is (FS2 and Fred2 open all of the models without problem, but they sometimes seem a bit on the slow side) but there would seem to be a discrepency in the chunk handeling between these two quality editors.  I'm not sure if it is widely known, or even if it can be easily addressed, but I just thought I'd say something.

I can get models saved in Aurora to load up in PCS, but whenever I save them there, PCS performs an illegal op error and exits (it does save the file correctly, however). I have stopped using Aurora for the moment though, since there is a major problem with that in the pof loading procedure which I have mentioned here before; it does not read the first entries in most of the chunks and sets all those values to zero. Bob, have you had a chance to address this?
