Man that'd be cool.... space-trading in a FreeSpace story environment.... selling captured Maras at 50% discount is the Ribos system! Honest John's used ships.... :D:D:D
OK never mind...

go to the FL forums, and go help the modding.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be qualified for that... just like the description is yr sig, I have little experience at that... :doubt:
-
Well, I'm learning very slowly how to edit statistics of ships and where stuff can be bought......

from what i heard and noticed, experience isn't the problem, time is.

personally i was already bored to death with the FreeLancer demo... go buy this, sell it here, go kill this guy, don't forget to tractor beam in the goodies, yada, yada... gets old really quick to me... most people are driven by some kind of storyline/plot that sucks them in and makes them feel involved... FreeLancer seems to be just about me, me, me....
plus that stupid, arcadish mouse control!!! aaaarrrgghhhh!!!!
-
btw, poeple are working on making trading possible in FS, check SCP.
-
yah I saw.... :( i posted there too... i mean, maybe i am wrong, but the military pilot does NOT have the capability to buy/sell/trade stuff for his own craft and repairs, et al. you are issued your fighter, and away you go... like i said, i feel this will totally ruin the feel of the game...it is a military space combat simulator, not a mercenary/trader game. make a seperate game or go get Freelancer or play Privateer if that is what you want. or find a way not to ruin it for those of us that want/like space combat simulators that are story driven...don't force it.
-
Again, it is not something that will be forced!
I'm currently writing a campaign, i decide i need the ability to have trading, i enable it *IN MY CAMPAIGN*, other campaigns will not be affected by *MY CAMPAIGN*
Hope you see what i mean this time :)

Sure the game of Freespace was set having A1 be military, but there's no reason why a campaign that could include civilian life and have trading and freelancing around, and that's where Freelancer would come in. It could work even if you were A1 in the military. I mean, soldiers get shoreleave and days off just like anyone else.
-
ummm...not during a war, unless their unit is standing down for some reason. and if they are beat from waging a campaign, they are not generally going to want to waste that time by trading... they will want to spend time with families, relaxing and raising hell... just look at hostory and see what military men do on leave from a war...
when not at war, consider that moonlighting in the military is not looked upon very well...
i don't mean to just be negative about the idea, just logical. see my post in the scp forum about some ideas to implement...
-
Well if you want to be logical, you could have a character who's in the military, finishes his tour of duty or for whatever reason, gets leave time or quits, then starts freelancing for himself or has some deal where he has personal business to attend to.
Just because they are gone from their families doesn't mean they want to go see them, or even if they have families. It's a game, so that gives you the possibility to do almost anything you want with it allowing you to use the Freelancer I dea as effectively as anything else.
