Seeing how popular the 'What is your fetish' threads are among here, here is another one.
Windows XP users only this time, I'm afraid. The WinXP start menu displays 5 frequently used programs on the first tab. Name these.
Mine:
Notepad
Irfanview
ICQ Lite
Paint Shop Pro 7
3d Studio Max 5
WS_FTP Pro
-
Not on my computer, but I'll go by memory
Winamp
ICQ Lite/AIM
Freespace 2
Notepad
Photoshop 7
in that order...
-
SmartFTP
RPG Maker 2003
MOO II
PSP 7
Anti Pop-up for IE
-
Freespace 2 ;D
LightWave 7.5
Winamp
Paint shop pro 7
DC++
Trillian
SERIOUSLY!!!!  :thepimp:
-
Notepad
MSN Messanger 5.0
Windows Messanger (for my "watchdog" account)
Winamp
Microsoft Word
Media Player 9
Edit, should probably mention that lately all I've been doing is coursework which means typnig stuff and listening to music - hence the Notepad and MS Word. I'm not a writing freak :)
-
Egad! I'd beat out the balls of Windows Messenger, if it weren't for the fact that 90% of the girls I know use it.
Hail ICQ.
-
Amen, but likewise only 3 people on MSN Messanger are also on my ICQ list - everyone else hasn't even heard of it. Go figure when it comes to contacting college mates and not phoning them!
-
Hmmm.
Trillian
Windows Media Player
IrFanView
FRED2
Freespace 2
-
Battlefield 1942 (Just got it! awesome game! ;7)
Splinter Cell
C&C Renegade
Sonique
Lightwave
Hm..guess nobody around here uses Internet Explorer very often. Eh? ;)
-

Did someone say Trillian?

;7 ;7 ;7
At least 30 of my contacts are girls. Rest (about 3 or 4) are boys. I can't help it. Everytime I chat with a girl somewhere, they ask for my MSN adress. As I said, I just can't help it. ;7 :drevil:

Yeah so, whats your point? :wtf: :wtf:
my qestion is what the heck do you do with notepad? play freespace 2?

-
windows commander
IE
winamp
icq
word, or some game.
-
Well I use it to build HTML, dunno about the others :)
-
Kalifreth/Thunder, sir, you are a sadist.
The guy that came up with HTML has said on camera that HTML is not supposed to be written by hand.
-
He can't have been very good at it then ;)

[color=66ff00]Course not! What the hell are you going to do with pages of hand written HTML? It's far better to type it into notepad.
What? :nervous:

The point of manually writing HMTL is that it gives you far greater control over how to form and lay out a web page. Asuming you know what you are doing, you can greatly exceed any capabilities of any standard web creation package. This is of course dependant upon ones skills and knowledge of HTML though.
Thus far I have seen no one actually ask how skilled thunder is at html ;)

Not that good but I enjoy keeping control of my code - I've seen to many people get crappy code because they dragged a table a bit to far and had to move it back or something like that in college to try it now. And you've hit the nail on the head - I enjoy knowing exactly what a page is made up of - not vague ideas but being lost without a pretty GUI. As it is I can now read other peoples pages a lot better than I used to be able to in raw HTML just by doing my own in Notepad.
I'm no guru, but I know enough to get by for what I need. Example of what I've done?
www.worthingcollegesu.com
My colleges Student Union site. They say it's the best they've ever had :)
Edit: And yes, that is me in the picture of the war protest in the news section. I'm lurking ;)

Notepad never crashes (well, not in my experience). Internet Explorer does. It's just a safety measure... few things more frustrating than typing out a huge post or email and clicking send, then getting an error, hitting 'back' and it's all gone. ;)
I took away the list (replaced it with a permanent one), but from memory, here's my five most frequently used:
Notepad
IE6
ICQ
Task Manager
WMPlayer

WYSIWYG editors almost always screw up a website if I'm trying to do xhtml (or even html) using stylesheets. Anyway, making a site with all style settings done from the external stylesheet makes the xhtml rather simple and easy. (the W3 recommends that)
-
don't have XP, but I can definitely tell which programs I use most:
Turbo Navigator
Mathematica frontend
Freespace 2
FRED 2
Notepad

Well, quicklaunch yeah.

To be truthful, I use the Run dialog more than the start bar... windows+R, then: winword, notepad, powercalc, iexplore, c:, taskmgr, wmplayer, cmd, etc.
-
Notepad
Fred2
Morrowind
Freespace2
mIRC
Guess I do use notepad quite a lot. But more than fred2? That's a bit of a surprise to me.
