Just wondering.
-
Towani's integrating enhanced multiplayer support into the FS Port, and I think the SCP is doing something with a poor man's PXO. SquadWar is dead, though.
-
Practically dead as it has been since 2001 or completely unfunctionally dead?
-
I think the last SW was in March, all the others are locked
-
If only NodeWars was more than just a forum based RPG...
We need a rock-solid alternative to PXO and Squadwar. I'll give PXO one more year at most... (MOTD makes absolutely no sense) It is not on a respirator or heart machine yet but it is bedridden in the ER. Squadwar is dead, what will become of clans? We can't just go around having unregulated unofficial Squadwars. With all the source we have to fool around with. We should do what people did with Warcraft 3, make unofficial yet reliabe multiplayer servers.
I still don't know why Lobby 20 is called Lobby 20.
-
Is MOTD still Jan 14th 2000 or something? It always makes me smile, and I don't think there are enough pilots for a SW anymore. We are few and far between.
-
Hypothetical question...
If THQ/Interplay/Paralax gave us control of the three derelict comuters that keep PXO alive. Would we be able to handle it, improve upon it, and revive it?
-
No.
For a community spread over the globe who does this for no pay in their free time, we've capable of remarkable things. Keeping an entire PXO server running isn't one of them. Ask Hunter (Hunt Smacker on these boards) about his server woes.
-
FS2 on PXO is as dead or alive as always...
Most pilots play on the weekends
A lot of newbies around lately, looks like the download versions are easier found these days
2 things that were a kick in the face:
V didn't validate the 3rd Fredzone pack (hurts me more then anything else :()
The auto-forfeit system for SW is broken > all matches got locked
-
Silly questions (allowed since I am new??? :) ):
Is PXO necessary to play multiplayer games? Or can direct IP be done?
Does anyone have any clue as to the system and/or other requirements for PXO?
-
Yeah you can play FS2 over IP. Press F2 in the main hall and have a look in the multiplayer settings.
-
Is there any PXO alternative clients that I can download?
-
Cool! Thx... I even figured out (really hard, that!) how to cancel>cancel to create a game without PXO.
Is there any advantage to PXO? Especially if most of your games are going to be squad internal or invite?

 It'd be cool though :) But I don't think you can crop 400+ capital vessels and a few thousand fighters in a single battle with the current engine :p
Though there are small battle most are big.
But nobody is stopping you from creating such a game ;) It'd be cool IMO
-
Is there any PXO client for the Open Source version of FS2?
-
Another thing... Why doesn't the damage texturing appear?
-
Is there anyway to play online with the Open Source version?
-
IIRC it is possible, with ip to ip mp, no PXO for FSO.
and i heard there is some sort of server thingy, but that seams like a WIP, and i didn;t hear about anyone running any servers for that.
-
IIRC?
