Ya'll are doing so much drawing now and so much less rendering! What's up with that?? RENDER! RENDER! RENDER!
I'll be doing more soon....but I want to see this whole page filled with renders and no drawings! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
;7 ;7 ;7
-
HEY! I rendered Tifa! :p:wink::p
-
Hey, I...
Well, I'm taking exams. And working on very big things. Like a two-minute-long movie, on a program and res-level where two seconds of animation can translate to an hour of rendering
-
Ok grade this:
A) Piece of cow droppings
B) Hm.... not bad
C) Good
(http://www.fattonys.com/images/upload/dvsmjpg.jpg)
It's a test for explosions layers and it was an answer to tha pic where Deimos gets busted, so i named this one: Payback
-
The beam looks great, except for the muzzle glow. The explosion is fantastic; it would be even better if that was the exit wound. But please, anti-alias the edges of the Moloch!
-
well what's the point. I don't post renders for the pleasure of posting, I post for feedback. I have no feedback. no feedback-> no render.
-
the beam looks great the explosion looks great (outside LW creation i preusme?)
-

Not everything. The explosion was made in Lightwave though and guess what, with no particles or hypervoxels. I used a much easier method. Beam and other effects are made in Photoshop and remaping and bumpmaping was also done in LW.
-
how did you make it then?
-

What? The explosion? I used volumetric techniques. Besides, I am not sure how many particles you would need to make the finest details. Not to mention how much time you would need to render it all. Anyway, this seemed simple to me. I don't even know how to work with particles. I also have a render of an ocean which isn't done with particles either.
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions on the deimos guys. I fixed the render a bit and here's the result:
-
How are you getting the glows on the moloch's "spikes" and the diemos's windows? Just draw them on manually?

No I don't draw them. Actually I point at them and then the glow creates it self using the color of the surface that I pin-pointed. Of course, it wouldn't look that good on ordinary models. The maps need to be altered in Lightwave first so that they can be manipulated later on.
One more thing. The explosion on the second render is different from the one on the first. The first one looked too blurry and foggy so I altered it a bit.
-
I liked the fog! It was Freelancer-esque, simulating the leakage of gases, fuel and atmosphere from the damaged section.
The Deimos and the beam source look miles better than they did. Good job.
Though I'd still like to see the beam go through the Moloch rather then just graze it.
-

Hm I have just throught out a concept on how to bring that to life. Now that I know how to work with layers, I may just try to do that. Thanks for the idea. But on the other hand, the second explosion kinda looks more clean to me.
-
Here's a render (sort of). :p

Mega beam ship. ;7 I like it.
-
Phew! This is the second render today. OK this is for all those people who like Molochs with piercings. ;)
-
-
[glow=blue]EXCELLENT!![/glow]
Though the muzzle glow on the Deimos seems to have shrunk... RTFT while you're at it. I really liked the way you did this Moloch and the previous Deimos.
-
[glow=blue]EXCELLENT!![/glow]
That's the best comment I got yet. By the way, the glow didn't shrink actually. The beam just got bigger. It is a different beam from the one on the 2nd picture. As for the turrets, I still ahve to figure out how to rotate them. ;)
-
very nice, but I don't like the muzzle flash on the last pic.
and yeah, rtft.
-
this is a test of a few things: textured beam, new engine glow, beam source glows, interlaced effect, and black and white - which i hadnt tried before:
and its not a drawing ;)
-
rtft
why? :wtf: Whats the big freakin deal about it?
-
it looks more natural if they are aimed at the enemy ship. Gives the impression they are turrets, not a chimney.

What is that thing, Ryx? It looks... almost photo-realistic, in a strange sort of way.

That thing looks a lot like the Gorgon Cannon from Warzone...
Also, I want to see pieces flying off that Moloch!

It's the planet killer from Star Trek TOS. Well, my redesign of it, anyway.

Easy for you to say. ;) What? Do I look like Setekh to you?

I recon this is actually better.

:nod::yes:
The Zeus' engines probably would look better with a blue fringe and the edge of that nearby star looks little too well-defined for a gaseous ball; but I love the beam, especially its firing-point, and the explosion comes out great :)
-
Update
Thanks for the tips. :)
-
OK. Here's another. I called this one:Vengeance
This will teach Shivans not to mess with Vasudans. ;)
-
The ships are gorgeous, but your beams are way off. Position them in 3D to see how they taper. Right now they're suffering from JFK 'Magic Bullet' syndrome.

It looks odd, cause the beams are coming towards the camra (slightly) but the lucy looks like its ahead of the vasudans ... kinda a mix of perspectives or something

I feel ok, yeah, I mean going out from the Luci
-
yeah, the one in the left is wider in the middle - beams dont curve.

Oh yeah! i forgot! I can read thoughts? I welcome critics, but please be more specific.

the right one, it should "enter" the luci from above, how it is right now looks like it's making contact on the front of the ship.

Since I posted that other img, I might as well post the the others too.

Re: Razor's render: does the lucy seem a tad small? or is it just me
Quite nice otherwise. :)
-
It's not small. It's just far. 3d ;) But still not out of the reach of Hatshepsuts beams. This is sort of a campaign render. 1 of many
By the way. Your render is really awesome. I gotta admit I am serriously out done by you here. Radical job.

Thanks :)

You say that, but the beams are coming towards the camara giving the impression the lucy is closer than the Hatshepsuts
-
Updated 24+ hours ago. It was in the bastion escort thread, but I didn't mean to post it here again. I was counting that people read that topic. Anyway...
-
Beams are looking better, but they're still not tapered enough... the perspective makes the Lucifer look corvette-sized.
The explosions are also off, they look cut-and-pasted.

If you look more carefully explosions are NOT cut and pasted. I used Thunder's screen blending techique. Look more carefully at them. You will see more particles, so they're not pasted. Second, the lucifer is far from the hatshepsut. You see that I fixed the beams so that they go further away, not closer.

Holy Megafunk, Batman! :eek2:
Any plans on kitbashing that into the full planet-killer (ala Vendetta by Peter David)? The whole thing takes a 90 degree downward turn immediately after the mouth, as well as spiraling around itself once it goes vertical. Cover it with porcupine-like spikes and you'd have yourself a winner. :D

In a way, yes. It blasted them to rubble and then gobbled up the chunks. So it wasn't anywhere near the size of a planet, if that's what you're thinking. :p

But don't send me the model with spikes, I love it just the way it is on the previous renders. PM me the download link when ready. By the way, do I need to worry about the size?

Currently it's a bit over 4 mbs. I would expect 3-4 mbs d/l.

We sat through two years of graphics class together. The problem was, our teacher was absolutely pants, so I ended up doodling in Paint while Setekh browsed... well, this place. (Some things make a lot more sense now, like when he started going on about some guy in Israel who sent him some cool music... I guess that would be you, Sandwich.) All the stuff I learnt about graphics, ironically, I ended up learning from him. :D

Eddie turned me off PhotoShop... though we had it on the school computers, he told me not to use it if I could help it, because he said it 'ran like a sloth', ate up too many system resources, and cost too much. I didn't argue with him, me being the graphically inept person I am... he said something about using his own program, I forgot the name, and he showed me it once at his house... we tried to get it running on my computer for months but it simply refused to work. So I never got into making pictures like he did. But I can sure critique stuff... :D

That beam looks wrong - it ends at the edge of the screen, instead of going on past the edge.
