I was going to wait until they were all finished, but I just can't (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
I've grown more proficient at building models than I was when I first began this fool's crusade, so I'm in the process of rebuilding several of my first models (specifically the F-44, the F/A-12, and the A-36).
This is what the old F-44 looked like...
and here's the new and improved F-44...
I've also improved my texturing capabilities, allowing me to rapidly create new ship paint schemes (finally got the hang of how to properly use the arithmatic functions (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)) so building a new skin takes only an hour instead of three or four. Expect to see multiple paint schemes for all of the fighters in the next build of the demo.
------------------
I told you that It (//"http://www.jskgames.homestead.com/files/home.html") would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...

Woah! I can definitely see the improvement there, great job (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Smooth texturing is A-1 SUPAR!!!
Seriously, Use the smooth feature. They would look alot better

I know the pic is small but you can tell the difference.

Enough with the fighters, texture the..other things o_o

Beleive me, I've been trying to do just that. Problem is when I save the *.cob from LithUnwrap I lose all shading data (I also seem to lose my ability to edit the mesh in TS). If I save it as a *.lwo, *.obj, or *.asc I keep my shading data but lose my UV Mapping (which kind of defeats the purpose of using LithUnwrap in the first place!)
Any suggestions would be appreciated...

save your cob in lith, open the file in TS and reapply the maps?
-
Tried it... Didn't work...
Once saved as a TS1 *.cob in lith it will not accept texture smoothing.
Does anyone know anything about *.cob file formats? Maybe I can cheat by using a hex editor... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
maybe ts4.2? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Dude.... Nice.... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
Try saving to 3ds, opening in TS and re-applying the maps (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Interesting...
I tried your suggestion aldo and when I tried to load it into TS it said the *.SET file was missing... Any ideas?
I've found some other clues as to WTF is going on. When I try to load a model I saved as a different format (*.lwo, *.asc, or *.obj) it is telling me that the model has no UV coordinates (despite the fact that I had just got done designing them (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/mad.gif)

another idea: trash lith, it seams to be very crappy...
-
Well, lith only saved co-ords in 3ds when I used it, anyway.
I'm not sure 'bout your SET error, by see what happens if you convert to cob with 3d exploration, maybe?
-
Hey Jonskowits, can u help me with my G-96 Prodigy? It is the interceptor a posted up a while back. U can take downs some detail to make it less difficult to make.

I think you might be right. Too bad too, I really loved it's interface.
Just for the record, I've tried everyones suggestions, and none of them worked. Thanks for the help.
Now, does anyone know where I can find a tutorial on making UVMapper less scary? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/confused.gif)
-
If you do, you proably wont want to tell me becasue I use Milkshape3D! YAY!
By the way that model is much! better! NICE! WOW! and all that. Jolly good! Tally hoe! Game of cricket anyone?
err....
HIGHPOLYS ARE A1 SUPAR!

Thanks LAW, we aim to please (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Hey WS-Thunder,
(http://www.jskgames.homestead.com/files/prodginy.jpg)
Were you talking about this? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
How the heck did u do that so fast?!!! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Seriously dude, that looks sweet!!! I was thinking about quiting the work on my campaign because I couldn't get any help on models and because I had a really rough day. Basically I found out I might have surgery and I won't be able to run this month and I am in charge of the run club at my school. I am also in fear of what I will have surgery for and I hope it is the lesser of what I think the problem might be and I am going to be checked out next week. I also asked a girl on a date tonight and got turned down so I was feeling really depressed. This made me feel a little better about things and cheered me up. Thanx man. I think I will keep working on this campaign. I shouldn't be giving up on it yet anyway.

Whoa... That is like, highly cool! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
You gonna texture it, too? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

what is it? the last generation Beluga bomber? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

That is actually this:
One of the main designes you will see in my trilogy. Don't worry, there are alot more where that came from that still need to be made (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Hopefully Setekh can render a few of these (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Hey Venom,
I tryed to show you the concepts a while back. That is the updated designe of the Prodigy. It is actually an interceptor/bomber class that was a joint project by the Terrans and Vasuadens a year after the Great War. Only 3 prototypes exist.
-
Hmmm... the only real complaint I have on the model you did jonskowitz, is that the fins need to be longer and extend farther behind the ship and that the main part of the body might could be shortened a bit. Other than that, the model looks almost exact to the way I pictured it. Then all we need is someone to texture it LOL (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Yeah, I know, just didn't recognize it.

hey jonskowits, I icq'd ya about the model. Hey Setek, what time you on and how can I get ahold of you. I have you on ICQ but you don't seem to be on when I am LOL (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/eek.gif)
