What happens to a ship when the following subsystem is destroyed?
-An engine on a multi-engined fighter/bomber/cap
-Navigation subsystem on any ship
-Bridge
-Reactor
-The actual weapons subsystem on a cap, not the turrrets
-Solar panels
-Radar dishes
-The INSANE amount of crap found on the Boadacea
-
First off:
- Engines-Knock them out, they lower the maximum speed of a target, or disable it entirely if all are knocked out.
- Navigation-Nothing.
- Bridge-Once again, nothing.
- Weapons-Lowers overall accuracy of the guns.
- Solar Panels-Nothing.
- Radar Dishes-Nothing.
- Boadicea-When the asteroids break off, the Iceni emerges.
Secondly: As you can see, only two of the common systems really affect the overall performance of a ship. FREDing can be done to trigger different events (e.g Nav destroyed --> ship can't jump out).

What he said. They're only there to serve as possible triggers for events.

What about reactor?

You can script the mission so the beam cannons go offline if the reactor is destroyed, or disable the warp drives if the nav system is offline... it's all up to the FREDder.

What I don't get is why they didn't give every ship a bridge/reactor? (well at least the terrans and Vasudnas should have a bridge. I think it'd be more shivan to not have a big central command center)
