Title: Just saw X-Men 2 (Spoilers ahead!)
Post by: Vertigo1 on May 04, 2003, 12:15:56 am: All I can say is, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! Its 50x better than the original. The ending is quite a shocker too! I can't wait to see what Jean turns into. Whatever it is, it had wings.

I mean, I'm sure real mutants would have some kinda freaky-ass initiation ritual to their secret mutant armies or whatever, but this is just a movie, and I don't want to see that. Particularly the bit with Wolverine and the knife. Bleah.

You mean the cartoon? Just the first couple of seasons. Last episode I recall seeing was the one where Cyclops and Jean get married and Logan goes hog wild in the sim room during the wedding because he's PISSED.

btw, am I the only one that was half-expecting that chick to kick Wolverine in the balls? ;)

heh, that fight was sweet. I don't like how they played some of the characters wrong though. If you remember, Deathstrike or Uriko, was supposed to be Wolverine's lover. Them two were part of some top secret military team along with Maverick, Silver Wolf, Sabertooth and somebody else I think and a bunch of them (minus Mav and Silver) were all animantiumized.

I guess they do that alot though with book/cartoon to movie conversions (change characters and stuff)

I so can't wait to watch this thing. It came out mid-week here in Aus, I just have to find a free weekend to catch it. :nod:

Yeah, where'd you get that from? What I heard from the director was that he wouldn't want to create any more X-Men movies if he wasn't working with the original cast... and, well, it's sad, but I don't know how long Sir Ian Mckellan is going to be with us. :(

Storyline-wise, who knows how many movies they could make. I doubt we'll be seeing Onslaught (I won't spoil it all for you, I'll leave it at that) for a real long time. ;)

Desmond Llewelyn was 85 when he passed away in 1999. *a moment of silence* He did 18 films... starting in 1962 with Dr. No. McKellen (with an 'e', my bad) turns 64 this year... Here's to another couple of decades at least. :nod:

well, if you knew anything about the original cartoon or watched the water closely at the end, you'd realise that she ain't dead.

And Evolution is actually done here IIRC. It was ok, but no where as pimp as the original.

They coulda had the prison ship thingy with that soul-eating monster.

Methinks the next film should be about Station-M or whatever it was called. Where Magneto rounds up all the mutants and ships them off into space. That way they could bring in that power-giver guy and lead into an Apocalypse-based 4th film.

Yea, the shiar thing was cool. It'd be neat if they didn't bring Jean back untill the 4th movie and she had to have a showdown with somebody like Apocalypse. Who better than to lead in a Apocolyptic film? :)

Personally, I think the president was either a mutant or something like Apocolypse, because it almost seemed like he could have been playing everyone so that the world would hate mutants and start that war they talked about against them, but got caught and descided to change his plans at the end.

You know, becuase it didn't look like he was in pain when Prof. X was doing his killy deal on humans, and I think that's why they showed him for a sec.

Considering that I've never read any of the comics and have only seen the first two seasons up-to the point where Jean and Scott get married.... ;)

Still, I'm hoping that they bring in the sentinels in X3 along with Cable. :D That dude was cool!

Granted the subject matter doesn't lend itself to this but 50 foot mutants killing robots are a bit of a leap. We can assume that X3 will focus on Pheonix and will have a slightly larger team consisting of Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine & Nightcrawler with Iceman, Collosus, and possibly Shadowcat acting as the "B" Team, getting into trouble and so forth.

On the badguy side, there no reason for Sinister to make an appearance. His motives for the most part are scientific, granted he's a sadist and slightly megalomaniacal about his work, but he doesn't come into direct conflict with the X-Men on a regular basis.

As for Apocalypse, he is so radically more powerful than any of the current de-powered roster, save possibly a berserk Storm, that they would have no way to beat him.

The most likely bad guy in X3 is D'ken, the Shi'ar emperor who seeks the power of the M'Kraan crystal to make him a god.

For those who haven't or don't read the comic, Operation: Zero Tolerance was the world wide response to Onslaught. Since the X-Men were the only ones left standing after the final battle it was assumed that they were the perpetrators of the loss of the rest of the heroes.

They could have the rise of Apocolypse (as the President Methinks) in the next movie, not talk about Jean till the end (thus furthering the suspense.. kinda) when she shows up at the door all powerful - end movie.

Next movie starts off with Apocolypse doing has thang, then Jean comes in and beats him up ;7

( I don't think they are going to go with the whole starjammer/shi'ar plot because the Princess hasn't contacted Prof. X and Jean was no where near anywhere or anything that started her on her phoenix way like she was in the cartoon.)

Stryke, what rape scene are you referring to? I saw the movie Friday night (yeah, it ruled :nod: ) and I don't remember anything about a rape scene.

Unless you're refering to Mystique and the plastic prison guard while they were in that bar bathroom.... :wtf: :nervous:

The X-men went back to earth, Pheonix included. It was during this time that Scott and "Jean" resumed their romance and the Pheonix entity became all too human in the process. Eventually one thing lead to another and Pheonix left Earth. She then proceeded to destroy several whole solar systems which honked off the Shi'ar because they are the Preeminant race in several galaxies, and they see it as their duty to protect said galaxies from agressors.

uhhhh ok.

isn't Phoenix (Jean) the most powerful mutant though? isn't she like capable of destroying planets in a heartbeat? i thought when she became Phoenix she became the most powerful

My favorite "X-men" is definately Colossus. Unfortunately they didn't show much of him in X2, but in X3 apparently he's going to have a pretty major role. (for those of you who saw X2, Colossus is the guy who appears for a few seconds when the SWAT team invades the mantion. he rescues a kid in one of the rooms, and he's got this metallic skin on which deflects the bullets in the movie)
