Smart people do speak their mind, that's how you get anywhere, and how you get what you want/deserve. It is the stupid who remain silent when all around them take what they like.
-
And the REALLY smart person quietly takes what he wants and gets away before the noisy bastards notice

Sadly, yes, that seems to be how the world works these days.

RESERVED That's the word I used, if you didn't notice. OK so according to your ideology, smart people should speak of everything they have in mind, even if that thing they are about to say is totally apsurd and stupid. Better go from the source of the word: RESERVE

In a word. Yes.
Smart people have more of a right to speak and be listened to than stupid people.

True. But did you know that Belgrade exsists for over 2000 years now. And Serbian flag didn't change very much more over 1000 years now. Heh while our people lived (and still live :D ) on the Balkans Trash Man, the Americans didn't even exsist. :D
So RESPECT OLDER CIVILIZATIONS!!! . As far as i know, amerika exsists for a bit over 200 years now, so they are practically noobs on this planet :p compared to most European civilizations.

But oh well, Israel is an old country. Not to talk about Babylon. Geez did you know they had schools at that time and it was more than like 10000 years ago. :eek2: And what is that legend about the tower of babel all about?
-
The Tower of babel was the tower that the (insert whoever I forget they were here) vainly attempted to build a tower to heaven.
God in his holy boredom, thought that this was blasphemous and used his godly magic powers to make everyone speak in different tongues, thus they couldn't understand eachother while trying to construct the building and got angry and quit.

BS! Who's in charge now? Thats riiiggghht, the wee little U S of A. All those old countries are too old to keep up with us any more. Hell for fity years us and the Soviets (even younger than us) held the entire world hostage:nod:

Exactly, older civilizations will only be respected today if they still have the power that they used to have. If the rest of the world leaves them behind, nobody cares about their old age anymore. How about monkeys, for example? They are probably a much older civilization than all the ones mentioned here, so they deserve some respect, right? :D
Anyway, on the subject of flags, I always found those three-strip flags a bit boring. I like the more original flags; the Saudi and Sri Lankan ones are good.
One interesting thing is that some nations seem to actually have the exact same flags. I think Ireland and Italy are one such case.

Monkeys? A civilization? Dude, you can't even make a difference between animals and humans. Guess Math got the better of ya than basic biology eh? By the way, I really doubt that you know what a deffinition of a civilization is, so I have taken a liberty in explaining it to you:
CIVILIZATION: An advanced state of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of record-keeping, including writing, and the appearance of complex political and social institutions. So, where do the monkeys fit in there? :p

LMAO. Two nations can't have same flags genius. :p They can use same colors in different order. Like on Yugoslav, Dutch, Russian and similar flags. But while on the subject on flags, I bet that you don't even know what those colors even represent.

waht the colors represent differs from one country to the other, even if it's the same color.

I know what our colors represent:
BLUE
WHITE
RED
Represent: Freedom, endurance, courage and fight against the agressors, invaders and all who tryed to defeat us (and never did)
One thing though, why do amerikan aircraft have a YUGOSLAV flag on them?
-
(http://www.csu.edu.au/australia/ozflag.gif)
Australian Flag:
what each bit represents:
The Union Jack in the upper hoist quadrant or first quarter (also know as the Canton), denoting Australia's historical links with Great Britain. The Union Jack itself is composed of red and white intersecting and overlayed vertical and diagonal crosses on a blue background,
The Southern Cross in the second quarter (also known as the top or head) and fourth quarter. Consists of five stars in a more or less kite-like pattern - Alpha Crucis (7-point), Beta Crucis (7-point), Gamma Crucis (7-point), Delta Crucis (7-point) and the smaller Epsilon Crucis (5-point). The outer diameter of each of the 4 major stars is 1/7 the width of the fly and the inner diamter is 4/9 outer diamete; the diameter of Epsilon Crucis is 1/12 the width of the fly and the inner diameter is 4/9 the outer diameter. The constellation of the Southern Cross is a significant navigational feature of the southern hemisphere, strongly places Australia geographically and has been associated with the continent since its earliest days,
The Commonwealth Star or Star of Federation, central in the third quarter or lower hoist, has seven points to denote the six states and the combined territories of the Commonwealth. The seventh point was added in 1909. The outer diameter is 3/5 the width of the Union Jack (3/10 the width of the fly) and the inner diameter is 4/9 the outer diameter.
-
Nice description. Did you make it yourself?
-
you Kidding!?:p

True, but in the cases of Ireland (http://images.google.com/images?q=flag+ireland&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search) and Italy (http://images.google.com/images?q=flag+italy&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search), the similarity is almost absolute. The right third of the flag is the only difference, with Ireland's color being orangeish, and Italy's color reddish.

It's an independant airline... and red, white and blue are part of our flag. Just like they are the same colors of the French flag or the british flag.
-
I know that, but I am looking at the formation of the colors.
-
The main point of the piece you quoted there was about longevity of civilizations being irrelevant, the monkeys just being an example. Anyway, back to the monkeys, where did you get that definition from? I just checked the webster.com definition and there is nothing about humans at all. It would not make any sense anyway; why do you think they always talk of extraterrestrial civilizations? The main characteristic of a civilization seems to be the writing of records, but what exactly is a written record? If a monkey walks through some mud, he will leave footprints there, which can be taken as a written record of sorts. :D
Anyway, my point is that age does not matter here and no civilization will get any respect just for being old. As Teabag noted earlier, the US and the USSR were some of the newest states around at the time of their domination.
I might have spent more time with you if you had not shown your utter stupidity in all the other arguments around here. Come back when you learn how to put up a real argument. :D
Genius.
Hey, thanks. :D
LMAO. Two nations can't have same flags genius. :p They can use same colors in different order. Like on Yugoslav, Dutch, Russian and similar flags. But while on the subject on flags, I bet that you don't even know what those colors even represent.
It doesn't really matter here, does it? For all I care they could represent RGB values that have special number-theoretic properties. :D Besides, you should really learn how to spell "America" correctly before criticizing people for not knowing the meanings of some flags. :D
Or how about Indonesia and Monaco? Another case where the flags are either the same thing or have a very slight color difference.
It's an independant airline... and red, white and blue are part of our flag. Just like they are the same colors of the French flag or the british flag.
I guess they all stole the Yugoslav flag then, right? :D

Yeah we do - they can't play AFL (the only real Football) and we beat 'em when they sent their soccer teams out here last time. face it. We Own.
Turnsky - Hopefully I'll be going to Tassie sometime in the next year or two - my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins went and came back full of photos and stories and **** that inspired Mum and Dad to want to go, so I'll be scabbing a plane ticket and hitching a ride no doubt :D.
On the Civilizations thing - 13 centuries aint bad, but it's not that special, not in Europe anyway - look at France and Britain - established governments for much longer than thirteen centuries - Greece and Italy also have been civilized for millenia. Then there's Egypt, Most of the Middle East, China and Japan - then there are the "uncivilized" civilizations, some of which for tens of thousands of Years - Australian Aboriginies, American Indians, African Tribes, South American Incas and Aztecs.

@CP
On the footprint thing: *A dog runs over a pile of mud* CP:Hmm...this is a written record.I better preserve this for the generations to come. :doubt: No really an excelent example, but I would have expected that from a 7 year old rather than you.
Hey, thanks.
I am not surprised. *Looks into math book* Nope. There's nothing about sarcasm . The :p doesn't really ring it does it? ;) No? OK look for the monkeys at this one while you're at it. ;)
SARCASM: A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
....how to spell "America" correctly....
:p :ha: Do you think someone gives a damn **** about "C" being replaced with "K"? :p Guess I was too lazy to type "C" instead. :p "K" is much nearer to "I" on my keyboard than C. :p
So sue me. :p

Well, tell me why it is not a written record. It certainly satisfies all of the conditions of the definition of a written record.

Still, the fact remains that you called me as a genius, sarcasm or otherwise. :D That was probably the most sensible part of your posts though; now try to work on getting the rest of your posts up to that level. :D

Great! Now tell me why I should care any more about the original meaning of some obscure national flags than you do about the spelling of a nation's name. :D

First of all, the very example is stupid because you can't write with your feat and second, it is called a record because a record is: an account of information or facts, set down in writing as a means of preserving knowledge. And so, tell me what kind of knowlege does a monkeys footprint preserve?

It is true...but the point is that you don't understand the point. As for levels... you are allready waaaay down below.

I didn't say you have to care.

That a monkey was there and walked in a certain way? An astute detective might see much more in it. Writing is to "form characters or symbols on a surface with an instrument" and anything can be a symbol, so this certainly qualifies.

I think your earlier remarks around here say it all about your arguing skills. :D Sorry if I am laughing here, but it's really funny how you get into arguments with people all the time while having nothing to defend and end up just making a fool of yourself; I have seen this happen around here countless times. :D
I didn't say you have to care.
In that case, there was no reason to post about it, eh? :D

Sigh....As I said earlyer...states are unimportant...Only people are important...only life is important... ALL LIFE!!!!
Who are we to say that human lives have more worth than animal ones? We say that becoause we control the planet....Do animals think so? Will aliens think so?
Maby they'll kill us and leave the animals....
Humans have to get down from their high horse.....
Rescpect life! Rescpect nature! And other stufff like that...

You'd be surprised what information can be gleaned from footprints. Studies of Dinosaur trackways have given information about speed, behaviour (It is primarily Trackway evidence that suggests Sauropods travelled in Herds, and, despite the massive size difference, they were hunted by Allosaurs), anatonomy (The coparison between the fopotprint and the foot bones tells us about posture and the way the skin and flesh attatched itself to the foot). I'd assume Monkey footprints could tell us the same sorts of things, people just don't bother as there are living monkeys to study.
Admittedly, it's not knowledge being stored, but it is information...
-
For the record, your definition of record-keeping is too narrow... record keeping should be defined as the purposeful recording of something, not an accidental footprint in the mud. Dinosaurs did not keep records when they left footprints everywhere. But a socienty out in the next galaxy over that bypasses paper and pen and goes directly to electronic methods of data accumulation would not be considered to be "writing stuff down", literally.

oh, no... because all we ever do here is post things for you to read.

her... about that monkey civilisation ****.
first you'd have to get the monkeys to live as a community. largest mon, keys communities are, what, of a dozen of individuals? come back when they all live together.
ants and bees are serious challengers to being civilisations. they communicate between them and between hives, which makes for a more elaborte society already ( apes can communicate between individuals, if you can say the fact that screamin after the other coz he's coming too close his called communication ).
oh, and CP: written record implies a will to. walking in dog's crap certainly isn't the result of the will of writing down the proof of one's existence :p
Your logic is so one sided I could cry.

Hey don't critisize. He is a math geek, but he is also very impressed with the advanced monkey way of communication. Who knows, footprints in the crap today, monkey quantum comm tech tomorrow. Maybe CP will be the promoter of the first super-advanced monkey civilization, so don't be too hard on him.
Oh and about Math and Logic (a chapter), he surely can look at things from many different aspects rather than just one, Venom.

WOW! :eek2:
This is outstanding CP.
What does it say? What does it say?
