Title: OT: Icon and DVD errors

People I need help!

I just installed my new soundcard yesterday (Novatech 5.1 Live Theatre). Everything was fine.

I decided to try playing one of my DVD's on quadraphonic - I hadn't bothered in about a month - suddenly I get a Create Overlay failed, please lower your screen resolution or colour depth".

And to top it all off, my desktop icons have all dropped to about 256 colours. :blah:

I tried messing with the resolution, same problem. Rebuilt my icon cache, same problem, tried reinstalling my video drivers, no solution.

I would normally blame my new soundcard but I don't think its to blame since I haven't played a dvd in ages and secondly the icon problem didn't occur till my dvd app came up with that error.

Does anyone have any ideas?


EDIT: dvd back on, but icons still buggered

If you're on XP you could try that system restore.
