Well I have got a free version of Truespace, got a model in it and now, how do I make this herachy stuff?
I have heard I need a plugin or something like that...got TS 3.2
Can anyone tell me what I have to do?
-
Check out the turreting tutorial in my FAQ first and then have a look at the others I mention in the modding section. That should get you on your way :)
-
You don't need an extra plugin but it will save you a lot of trouble and pain. It's called trueview.
-
Could I get Trueview also for free somewhere?
-
AFAIK it's free
-
Its free you can download trueview here (http://underworld.fortunecity.com/pacman/106/fs2mods/shipcreationguide/trueview.zip)
-
Thanks for helping everyone...now lets see if I can get it working.
Tell me if I am wrong...
I want to create a shield for my ship. I have got the ship and the shieldmesh. All I have to do is to put the shieldmesh and a local light together in one group and name it shield. Then I move the Shieldgroup to the shipgroup right?
Can't get Rampages Post Modding Manual, where Shielding is discribed in.
-
Trueview is usually included with TS itself so you may already have it anyway.
I see you're making a fighter or bomber so the tutorial might only be of limited use to you. The links in the FAQ however apply to both fighters and capships so I'd highly recommend IP Andrews ship modding guide and Bobboau's PCS tutorial as both have pictures of what your hierarchy should look like.
EDIT : hmmmm it appears that Rampage's post modding manual is down for me too.
-
Well its an shieldmesh for an cap ship someone else made...I just want to add the shieldmesh to the existing ship.
I don't want to completly redo everything just adding the shieldmesh...the Pof construction suit crashes if I try to convert the shieldmesh.
-
What message does PCS throw at you?
-
Well thats the problem...it says nothing, just close itself.
I have also tried it with cob2pof. Result was that PCS tells me that the shieldpof is not a FS2 pof, but I have selected in cob2pof the FS2 button.

Open the shieldpof in modelview and save it as a FS2 pof!
That should work!

You can't save anything in modelview...not that I have seen any saveoptions
-
Then you're using the old (and wrong) version of Modelview! :D
-
Well then can anyone send me the last version of modelview or give me a link, because the site where modelview's update should be is not avaible....Page I have tried (http://www.descent-network.com/cgi-bin/descman.cgi?module=modelview)

Check the Inferno/I broken my own record thread... There shuld be a link there.....
-
There's also a link from the HLP download section.

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,15019.0.html
links to the normal beta05 and the upped limits one in there :)
-
Yeah, that's the one. But remember to have PCS as well! :D
ModView doesn't like saving turrets!
-
i've never had any problems with it in that regard-the only thing i've seen it doesn't like saving is eyepoints.
-
The only thing I've seen it do is make a bunch of random turrets (missile turrets) in one of the older versions. But the new one with upped limits seems to have corrected the problem.

That's because Rampage's Post Modding Manual is now online! Click on the signature to go to Attempted Suicides and follow the NAV to the Developer's Section.

Okay. Links updated in next update (sometime this weekend most likely)
