Most  computer fans aren't very powerful, only takes a pencil to stop one even if it's going at full speed. And a snake is a lot more durable than a pencil, not to mention it probably was already there when the comp was turned on so the fan simply didn't get to move at all. Anyways, better place to find a snake than in, say, one of your boots :)
