Title: an interesting bug
Post by: Nuke on May 20, 2003, 09:01:05 pm
i was testing some of my models the other day, i wanted to test my other weapons, so i applied the cheat codes. i found that when i was reverse-cycling my secondary weapons, i could select primary weapons.  they would fire one barel at a time or two at a time, which was interesting. i always lobbyied for cycling primary weapons so this gave me a chance to see what it would look like. it was kinda cool. anyway is there anyway you could hack the bug so that it would do that from the primary banks, with a default option for standard fire of course?

Eh?  I hardly understood that post.  Do you mean you never knew primary weapons could cycle before? :wtf:

I think he's saying that he reverse-cycled secondaries and got primaries in the secondary slots

Or maybe that he used the debug force weapon to select a primary.

More info, please.  Preferably on Bugzilla.

useing the debug console he was able to put a primary weapon into a secondary slot,
it was cool,
he wants us to make it so that he can do this intentionaly

I too have seen this BTW

Unless I'm mistaken, he wants the Primary guns to be able to cycle barrels. Say, for example, on the Herc II instead of pulling the trigger and the primary(in single fire-mode) firing from both barrels, it alternated back and forth, left-right-left-right.

It would seem so.

all he said is that while playing a freespace 2 single player mission he typed in "www.freespace2.com" and enabled the cheats, he then pressed "~" "shift" and "9" at the same time which forces your secondary weapon to change.  it'd change from hornet to tempest, if you press it again it changes to rockeye, then if you press it again it will change to a primary weapon, thus you have primary weapons that will fire out of the missile bays.

ahhh, school bell rings, bye!

This would be a great boon to the SW mod if it was either weapons.tbl or ships.tbl configurable. And I trust I don't need to spell out why. :p

I also live in Arizona, Nuke.  down here in Laveen, where all the pollution goes.

Oh yes, and beams won't fire out of secondary banks, but I'm sure we already knew that.

yea, i tried that, but it would be cool to give tbp that nial laser effect if it actually worked.

we should have flags in the weapon table entries that state wheter a weapon may be used in primary, secondary or any bank. that way you can put an extra laser weapon in place of your missiles, for the dogfighter in us all.
