Title: Holy ****
Post by: Knight Templar on May 25, 2003, 02:22:07 am
Just had a rather unpleasant earthquake... first one i've actually been fully awake for, made my ceiling and walls roll. I thought it was my bass first going really loud or something at 12 am, so i'm thinkin' "oh ****" then I reach for my speakers and they are rolling back and forth along with my chair and the rest of my house. :nervous:

I have no idea how high it was, but it knocked several trophies off my shelf onto the exact place where my head would be were I asleep :blah:

EDIT: Here's the *****. (http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nc51128377.htm) . Damn 5 miles away from my house, although 4.3 isn't much.

Stupid estonians living out in the middle of nowhere...

Next to Russia.

:p

(you can't forget about the idiots who live in the midwest where they have tornados every year. Or to a lesser extent, the people who live in Florida which gets hit by a major Hurricane every other year)

Let's see, here in east Tennessee, we have the worse plague of all.

'Course west Tennesse gets tornados.

Safest place is right here in southern ontario.  Two great lakes to screw up whatever severe weather may have in store, tornadoes once every 8 years, earthquakes always lower than 3.2, a few snowstorms, and a nasty case of west nile virus.

Oh...well, not much better than anywhere else then :D

Southern Ontario?!!?!

Where in Southern Ontario do you live!??!?!

I live just a few minutes outside of Belleville.

I remember we had a series of earthquakes...or earth"Booms" (that what they sounded like!) there was 3 in a row, about...5 minutes apart, I thought the big bookshelf downstairs fell down, but it wasn't, it was a quake of around...3.5 I think...can't remember, but it was cool! although it woke me up...bastardly earthquake...

You do realize the San Andreas is way overdue for the massive earthquake that comes around approximately once per hundred years? When that hits you, you're gonna wonder how you even noticed these little 4.3ers.

BTW - the sheep are in New Zealand. Tasmannia has... err, ummm... well, I'm sure that there's something down there :p

Sorry to hear it man. Well, at least in Yugo we don't have massive earthquakes. :p
By the way, did you know that in a few decades, California will be seperated from the rest of US by a massive earth quake. They call it: The big one. Heh, then you could have an independent country, since you won't be a part of Us any longer. :p

Actually, I did know :) (with all the ****ty education, they do find some time to teach us about em' surprisingly)

nayways, yeah, last I heard, we were getting closer to alaska at a rate of 2 feet I think every year. I seriously doubt though that we'll be breaking off from the Cont. US anytime so soon though.

I think it was estimated to happen in the next 50 or 100 years or so. But I didn't know that you were getting closer to alaska. Well...that wouldn't be good because it's cold there and california has some pretty nice beaches, and beaches are full of babes. :drevil:

If that's what you think of amers, I can only guess what you think of Japaneese. The poor guys don't have peace there too often because of those earthquakes.

Actually, in my five years of living in Japan, there were only two earthquakes of real note. One, naturally, was the Kobe disaster. That was a serious earthquake. The other went for thirty seconds and caused the renovated WW2 underground torpedo factory that I worked in to writhe like a snake.

For the most part, the japanese just look at earthquakes the way we look at heavy rain: "meh. it happens."

[color=66ff00]Ireland:
Lots of (realitively) light rain.
No natural disasters.

Mild summers, mild winters, no worries.
I love this place. :)
