Anyone tweaked the AI's priority stacking? You know, the little value of 1-50 that determines what a ship does first? I kinda wanna see pilot commands bumped from 50 to 49 in order, so that you can issue orders in a mission, but that doesn't mean that every fighter instantly drops everything and gets itself killed just because you said so. Particularly considering that they don't resume their previous actions after, say, blowing up a targeted fighter, and sometimes those prescripted wingman actions are important...

sounds like a good idea, but would it possible for the pilot to include some sort of priority setting themselves in communications?

Well, after you give the command another window could pop up with a 1-2-3 urgency level...
c-all fighters-cover me-3
c-alpha2-form on my wing-1

you might want to p1mp this in the new AI command thread.

I dunno about the pilot-set priority rating. For one thing, I don't see anyone saying "You know, I'd like this fighter off my ass, but eh, it can wait. I'll give it a 3." For another, I have enough problems dealing with the whole comms interface dealie in the heat of battle, anyway- it often comes down to a choice between getting someone to cover me and getting a rocket up my tailpipe in the process or being able to defend myself but being on my own. A third level of stuff to mess with, hit the wrong keys for, etc. sounds like bad mojo. But mostly, most players when they want someone to do something, they want it done NOW, so having the option to say it's not all that important sounds like it'd be kinda useless- as it is, you'd have to set it up so that only mission-critical type stuff would outrank the player's orders, as having your wingmen not listen would be more than a little frustrating. But that's just me, I dunno.
In an ideal world, I'd say we needed a one-button comm setup (again, like I-War's), where if you're... "preoccupied" you can just randomly mash keys until the right response comes up, but that'd just be a frill at this point. THAT would be a "3".:D

The urgency level does not apply to you, but to them.
If you give them a lvl 3 command, the'll drop whatever they're doing and follow the order even if it killes them.(They'll ignore EVERYTHING else, even fighters shooting at them)
At lvl 1 they'll obey if they can, if they areren't currently doing something allready (chasing bombs, disarming, running away from a fighter at their back and stff)
