Another ingenious idea I had awhile ago. On large capital ships, there are often more than one engine subsystem. When a subsystem is destroyed, the propulsion should decrease according to a percentage constant given in the tables. (For example, "engine01" has a 70 percentage, so when "engine01" is destroyed, the velocity decreases by 70%.)

Would be good! You'd get trashed Hecates moving at about 3m/s, though....
