Unbreakable union of Soviet Republics.....
(is that right?)
Or is it, "United forever in friendship and labour, our mighty republics will ever endure...."?
:D

Happy birthday Shrike
-
Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics,
Great Russia has welded forever to stand.
Created in struggle by will of the people,
United and mighty, our Soviet land!
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!
Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead.
To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples,
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed.*
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!
In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land.
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
Selflessly true we always shall stand!
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!
Note: someone take it off repeat its doing my head in now. :hopping:

Sojuz Nerushimoi respublik narodnõh
Spotila navek velikaja Rus!
Da zdravsvtvuyet sosdannij valeij narodov
Velikij Mogutchiu Sovetskii Sojuz!
(kinda amazing how much of the USSR anthem's lyrics I know by heart, isn't it)
Anyway, happy birthday, get a lot of old fish-sandwiches, non-working cars and food cupons for birthday, Shrike. And DO NOT meddle with the admin panel when you're drunk. Bad things tend to happen.
-
lmao @ USSR anthem....stroke of genius
Happy Birthday Archon! :D

happ birthday comrade, do not let the alcohol cloud your judgement concerning the party.
and how did that HTML?
-
Thank you, thank you.
It's going to be a fun three days...
-
But aren't there two versions of the Anthem?
I have a version that has Paul Robeson singing it, in English, and the lyrics are quite different.
I'm listening to it now, in fact, as it is part of my 9 1/2 hour playlist.
United forever, in friendship and labour,
Our mighty republics will ever endure!
The great Soviet Union will live through the ages
The dream of her people, the fortress secure.
Long live our Soviet Motherland
Built by the peoples' mighty hand.
Long live her people, united and freeeee,
Strong in our friendship tried by fire,
Song may out crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.
what's that version all about, then?
-
Happy b-day!
(goes and looks at more interesting threads)

I think it is, as later on there is the line:
And Stalin our leader, with faith in the people...

*covertly points at LtNarol*
Why not just view source, search for .mid, and look up for the first name that appears? :p
-
None of you have any idea when it comes to music.
What we really need is Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor!
-
What the hell is this music? Put back the one from first page.
-
'Tis Yankee Doodle, a sort of old American tune, use as a quasi-military type thing.

I've heard it somewhere. Maybe in Bugs Bunny cartoons back when I was a kid.
