Is it at all possible to turn the subspace node ANI into a ship? By converting it into a POF and adding a table entry. I have no idea personally how this would be done, but it would be cool if you could place a portal anywhere you want (preferably the big one).

Doesn't the hard-coding make the warp effects size different depending on the ship?
You can't anyway. It wouldn't move unless you have like 20 layers of rotating ss-fields and the textures still wouldn't look right. But if you really wanna try it, feel free.

Well I guess you could create a giant invisable ship that at the front has a giant plate, and then is a very thin "rod" at the back. Too bad i cant model! could anyone create one?? is transparency like that possible?
either way it was just a thought, thank you for reading.

as you can see, i have absolutly no artistic skills whatsoever

I have no idea what you're on about.
Just make two rippled, blue-white discs in truespace, put them together (one as a subobject) and then convert them to POF, stick them in an editor, make them spin in opposite directions and add a glow on the middle. Tada.

erp, there not supposed to glow or spin, just be a transparent ship that will create a subspace node without the player realizing that there is a ship there. the front plate creates the size of the node while the long cylindrical back keeps the node open for a specific amount of time.
but ya, i have no truespace either, sigh, crappy blender

The length of the ship is irrelevant. Subspace warps are pre-timed. Ever notice a capr-ship will fly at an extremely fast rate when entering subspace, while a fighter will actually slow down? No matter how big your ship is, subspace will always stay open for a set amount of time.
