Get the Demo, check it out.

Reminded me of Freespace in many ways.:D

That's the one in Russian, yes? It was very, very FreeSpacey, but I refused to play it if it didn't have english voice acting. Which is the same as my attitude towards FS campaigns.

Homeplanet = Home World ? :nervous:

Evidently not. There's not much Freespacey about HW.

Except, you know, the space... and space-ships... and the blowing stuff up... and the aliens. Yah, that's about it.

YAHOO ES TEH DEVAL!

Yeah, I'd say a little Freespacey. It's got the ORB instead of that lame radar thing FS has, other than that the interface is bascially identical- and it looks like gameplay is, too. Except with nicer models and ****, for newer engines.

Hmm.

after the initial shock of very FreeTerranish spelling on the front page, it looked up excellent. And we have some SG-1 ships there.

Zuzzex? Zummerzet? And so on>

I've had my eye on this game for a while, lets hope it can revive the space sim genre.

Games marketed for outside the US generally don't sell well here, so for here at least, don't count on it. For Eastern Europe, sure, but we'll only see a little of that if it happens.

What about OFP? I hear that got quite a large following in the US, and indeed all over the world, really.

Eh? Where's that from? I never took an interest in it, but yeah, it's popular.

That was a general rule, by the way. There are a couple exceptions I can think of, too, but one of them's English (which really doesn't count), and the other... hell, that's one out of about 500.

IIRC OFP was developed by a Czech team.

Yeah, tried it out. The gameplay was sort of confusing, and the Russian didnt help either. I'll give it another shot, cause I dont want to pass up a good game based on first impressions. However, more importantly than the game itself, I think the engine is worth investigating

Briefly, this same engine is being used in a freeware Babylon 5 game, who's team is made up of alot of the same guys as the Homeplanet team. The engine is certainly more robust than FS2, and leads me to...ideas...

As far as  know, they would consider giving the engine to a freeware type game, if we could only muster the will and the expertise to bring the FS universe into a generation...

Hmmm indeed. It doesn't look bad. Pity it hasn't been translated yet.

Too bad I don't understand Russian. Hehehe...maybe the word over to the right means "Brunette" and the words to the lower left means "You are out of missiles, sucker!"

Looks interesting. IMO the page most meaningful was the Press page with all the links to previews. :p

I thought the demo of Homeplanet was ok. But I don't really like the newtonian physic model. I tend like more of the fast actionpaced sims like Freespace and Wing Commander. I didn't have any problems with the russian voices cause atleast the briefing and the orders you got during mission texted in english.

:o I couldn't get my Hebrew font working properly. Anyway, most people don't have the font, so it'll come out like rubbish. Thanks for the help, though... I'll come to you instead of my Bible dictionary next time I want to write something in Hebrew. ;)

You using Win2k? I haven't tried XP, but 2k was made with all the character sets included.

He doesn't have Hebrew in his siggy ATM, and you need to add in the charcter support via the control panel anyway.

There's no such thing as an Israeli release - Win2k Pro is the same the world over.
