Title: Cargo as a Carrier?
Post by: Jon Handby on December 22, 2001, 09:57:00 am
Okay im looking for some help here (again! how unusal  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) )

This isn't for Inciental Warfare but its sequal.
Im looking for someone who could make a second TC-TRI pod for the triton but turn it into a small one wing fighter carrier. Of course it may need to look bigger with bits added like a small hab area. Perhaps change the textures on one of the three cube areas on the side into windows. ect.
But with a hangarbay on the fron/bottom. If you get me?
Would this possible?

Regards

Thus the Triton would be turned into a light dropship.

Exactly, or some form of a quick responce unit. A support carrier for support ships, the uses would be endless.

Mainly as the ony ships in FS2 (un modded) that can carry fighters for the GTVA are destroyers, and the Sience Ship. (as far as i can find out!) The deimos doesn't have a fighterbay alothogh the moloch does.

Cappella went nova, the GTVA stuggles to recover the NTF have broken up into two! And the shivans have a surprise in the bag!

Escort carrier, if you want to use WWII terminology.  Converted mechant ships with small fighter wings to attack U-Boats and other raiders.

A dropship by all reckoning carries tanks, troops and other fun stuff for ground attack, like an LST.  I don't understand how you consider a dropship being a light carrier.

I think turning the Triton into an "escort carrier" is a bad ***  idea, but you'd hafta beef up the armor on that piece of sh*t

I don't think we need to tell people about conventional terminology, since the FS2 designers saw fit to make cruisers pint-size compared to destroyers.

I think it's a good idea, I've been toying with the idea myself.. *sigh* if I only had a working copy of TS4 since it now wants a non-existant serial number since I formatted...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Yeah, but you can make sense of the  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) naming conventions.  Cruisers, Destroyers, Corvettes, all imply some sort of warship.  But a dropship by it's very name implies some sort of transport vessel for orbit to surface travel.
