What? you were expecting for a blocky space station? sorry, it's harlock's Arcadia from the TV series captain Harlock (not sure about the english name for it, seems there's not even an english version poor you (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) )

I have to add that for now the turrets are facing the enemy but won't show, dunno why.
Otherwise, it needs smoothing, engine glows, some more subsystems, a docking point and maybe better debris (coz they suck, but anyway, the Arcadia never loose, so they shouldn't be seen (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))
-
oh my god
i MUST have it
matsumoto rulez, but i'd like a yamato too
(argo in us) whooohohoh what about a matsumoto MOD (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
well, unfortunately, this series (the one with the Yamato), never sown in France, so I've never been really interested in this one (isn't the yamato the ship we see during about one second at the very end of Harlock saga, with the pinky blobs flying all over the place, during harlock speach?)

Here's the Yamato. She's a real beauty, much like the Arcadia: http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?BAN77588 ("http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?BAN77588")

Just do NOT tell me you've got a yamoto converted for FS2!!!! I've been trying that for...well.....over a year now (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
Actually just about every weekend I hunt online for just about ANY starblazers craft models i can find. Sadly it's mostly alot of pics of models ppl were working on a decade ago.
I do have a concept Yamoto II thou (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

well, the link above doesn't work, anyway, from what I remember, the Yamato shape is much simpler than the arcadia one, so if I can get pics as good as the ones I got for the Arcadia (maps are scans from a quad view schematics, I found them on the web, just had to cut them into pieces, rebuild the top and bottom ones coz they were half cut and put together, if you know what I mean, change some brightness settings et voila), I may do it... later.
-
I need that ship (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
ok, I did some search around, and even if I prefer the arcadia, the yamato is a good looking ship so here's the deal Warlock:
if you find pics as accurate as those schematic pics( http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?BAN77588 ("http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?BAN77588") ), I'll make it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
LOL
It is a killer ain't it?
Wonder how many ppl are going to go through the "new personal flagship" era now ? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Hell,...I'll be happy with close to a Yamoto. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
I've always been a major SB fan...mostly of the style cruisers (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Hell actually...Venom...you want this Yamoto II concept model I have to toy around with?
It's waaaaaaaaaaay highly detailed...around 300K polys or so...lightwave format.
-
The Yamato has Hangers! It rocks!
-
You never knew this before? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
-
I dont even know what these ships are from really. I live in England so i havent seen the program.

Yamato2? lol, you may like the Yamato ( Yamato dude (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) ) 2500 made by Sid meyer for the OAVs (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) (you see, I learn things fast: Life is study (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) )
-
Look up Starblazers or Space Battleship Yamoto for all the info on the yamoto (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

ok, but you, find the schematics (it was a long search for the Arcadia, I won't do it again).
-
I assume the first ship in the thread lacks any form of Fighter/Bombing launching equipment or am i wrong?
EDIT: Threat changed to thread.

Yes... i remember seeing that series quite a while ago, i even have a comic book with the "yamato" ("Argo" in the US version)
i think in it. i do know it came from "starblazers"

it didn't, Starblazer is just the english name for the original series that comes from the manga (btw, the US versions seems to be modified... bah, usual US bad habit...)

I know that, the Japanese name was
"spacebattleship Yamato"
Come to think about it the Yamato out of starlancer doesn't come even close to this one (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
The voice of that Captian dude from the Simpsons popped into my head for some readon (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

this is a pic of yamato with wings for atmospheric flight.
actually there are 3 tv series of yamato (against gamilon and desslar/dessler/desslok the first, agains comet empire the second and the search of a new earth the third, and there are also 5 or 6 films... the first two related (but different) to the firts two series, the others are almost indipendent from the series.
there are also other variants of yamato with different crew created and films( i've nevere seen em) with theese ships
Matsumoto as i heard is actually creating a new yamato tv serie about 1000 years after the original one as i heard...
-
Bah, the Arcadia still ownz (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Some of those ships look vaguely like the modern day "Iowa" Class Battleships
-
anyway your model is really...
huge!!
just two tips....
add some polys to the wooden area (expecially to the side windows that needs to be extruded) and improove wings textures... i mean.... the area of the wings you are pointing to in the first photo.....
wow the more i like at the photos the more i go crazy (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
its really a great thing...i can't wait to see it released (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Turnsky, in the show, the Yamato is THE Japanese Navy Battleship Yamato, raised from the ocean floor and made into a spacecraft. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) She looks like an old battleship because she IS an old battleship.

I didn't know that, the series wasn't screened all that often in australia particularly in Tas
-
The new show taking place 1000 years after the old Yamoto is Great Yamoto,..she's been at the bottom of the Artic ocean the whole time...has become partially sencient (sp?),..grown about 100,000 tons (from 75,000 tons to 174,000 tons) added I think 4 shock cannons,..made the wave motion gun even MORE powerful, and added two more wave motion engines.
And IF I can get these damned Yamoto 2 LWO to work in ts4.2 of 3ds max r3 I'll slap up a pic of her.
Might just whip out one from 3dXplorer just as a reference.
-
Screw it the merged file from 3dx won't open in either,...and I'm not starting object by object just yet (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) So here's a few quickies from 3dx
[This message has been edited by Warlock (edited 12-21-2001).]
-
ACK! Now I know why TS4.2 doesn't like that Yamoto 2 model.....once fully assembled...it's over 800,000 polys! Sweet geeeeeeezus the rendering is like a 500 year old woman crossing the street and trying to be slow about it!
And here I thought the new 800 mHZ P III and the 256 ECC ram would speed ts up a little lol
-
Try it in Gmax and see what happens might work or might not who knows. looks great though, tone down the polys and convert it into a freespace 2 model (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
[This message has been edited by Turnsky (edited 12-21-2001).]
-
800,000 polys
heheheh, my pc will crash if i only THINK to open a model like that (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
*oooops system crash!*

4 km long, just like the actual ship. Otherwise, yes, but no:
the main hull already uses more than 2100 polys dude! To have so many details, I had to make consessions, and well, general shape is more important.
Same thing for the maps: as it is, it uses 25 maps ( 22 for the main lod). If I add any more stuff, the FS2 engine just won't be able to handle it.
-

ehehehheheh i wasn't arguing about size... great was in the meaning of wonderful model (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
my english really suck (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Venom, is it the Albator 84 ship ?
-
yup
-
4km long, wow. Didnt think it was that big.
