Title: Damn
Post by: Stryke 9 on June 08, 2003, 01:12:12 am
I was going in to record the FS2 intro movie today, and I found out that the second CD was completely ruined. There was a series of fine scratches, running roughly circular around the center of the CD, covering the entire lower surface.

This may be a bit of a problem.:blah:

Is it from the cardboard case? Yea, I haven't bothered to put my originals in a new cae, so they are getting kinda ****ed up. I should really do something about that... :doubt:

Yep. Dammit, and a CD-copy didn't work, either!

Well, I guess now I really have motivation to make the HOTU version work right. If I don't, won't have access to FreeSpace next year.:D

Last I tried, any scratches are a *****, nothing special about the radial ones.

Maybe there's just something wrong with the game. I can get the movie audio (assumedly from the CD), but no movie.

Try moving the file to your hard drive and then trying one of those dodgy programs like MVExtractor etc to play it. If that works then you know it's the game.

Those things never worked before- if they do now, I'll know something's up.:D

In other news today- I'm now a mod at an indie forum. Bwuhahahahaaa! (http://invisionfree.com/forums/General_Yack/index.php?)

Go there, you *****es, so I have something to moderate. There's, like, four other people there.

It's actually fun when you're not on an EZboard.

Right now, I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks for the offer, but at the moment I kinda wanna figure out what's going on (since it's now apparently more than just a funky CD), either so that I can still use the CDs or so that I'm sure a new version and everything would work any better. This computer's got serious issues, it hasn't been maintained since the administrator sealed off most all the access privelidges and forgot to ever use them, and this might be another manifestation of that, along with the half-hour load times and infinite number of missing key files for every program.

leaving them in warm water always worked for me... just rub them with your thumb underwater, dry, and viola... (for me at least) When you do get it to work, burn  yourseld 2 copies of each, put them in a bag, and ducttape them to the ceiling :D
